Pokémon Sleep: Updates and Performance Issue Fixes (October 2023)

Versions 1.0.9 and 1.0.10 have brought with them some updates, performance issue fixes, and bugs for Pokémon Sleep.

Performance Issues

The game is currently experiencing the following performance issues:

Under certain circumstances, Error 028002 appearing and returning the app to the title screen when a large amount of ingredients was used for cooking. The cooking pot’s capacity can be increased by up to 200 through the effects of the Main Skill Cooking Power-Up S. This bug occurred when more ingredients were used for cooking. There are plans to implement a notification that appears if the Main Skill is triggered when the cooking pot has reached maximum capacity, to explain that the skill cannot be used.

The conditions that lead to this bug are as follows:

Using more than the following amount of ingredients for cooking:

(Cooking pot capacity × 2 [only when triggered by End-of-Week Bonus] + 200 [maximum capacity increase from Cooking Power-Up S]) × 1.5 (only when using a Good Camp Ticket)
For example, with a pot capacity of 33, the End-of-Week Bonus triggered, the capacity increased by the maximum of 200, and a Good Camp Ticket in use: (33 × 2 + 200) × 1.5 = 399.

In this case, you can avoid triggering the bug by using 399 ingredients or fewer.

Until the bug fix is complete, Pokémon Sleep asks that players take care not to use more ingredients than the above during cooking.

The following issue has been resolved along with the server update:

  • Effects from the Helping Bonus not being reflected. This is scheduled to be fixed soon with a server update.

The following issue has been resolved as of version 1.0.9.:

  • Strength Gained displayed as 0 when a recipe at max level (50) was cooked. This was displayed as 0, but the correct amount of Strength was gained.
  • Adjustments based on Pokémon Natures not being reflected when using candies to gain EXP. This is scheduled to be fixed in late September.

The game devs are continuing to look into the situation and working on fixes.

Note: The following bug has already been fixed with a server update.

  • Pokémon recovering over 100 Energy from sleep at the end of the week (most often from sleep between Sunday and Monday)

Game Contents Updates

  • Changes to make Pokémon in the Pokémon Box recover a small amount of Energy from sleep – this has been actioned, with a full explanation here.
  • Changes to when fonts for other languages will be downloaded: when they become needed for display (this will apply to users who install or reinstall the app in the future)
  • Changes to give a gift of diamonds to users who link their accounts or who have already linked accounts
  • Changes to allow users to navigate to their bag from the Gift Box screen when the gift cannot be accepted because the bag’s items pocket is full

Bug Fixes

  • Fixes to a text error for Main Skill Energizing Cheer S
  • Changes were made to the text about Energy recovery. Before fix: another Pokémon chosen at random. After fix: one random Pokémon on your team
  • Fixes to a bug that returned the app to the title screen immediately after tapping a Pokémon that had found a candy on the home screen
  • Fixes to a bug that caused Strength Gained to display as 0 when a recipe at max level (50) was cooked. This was displayed as 0, but the correct amount of Strength was gained.
  • Fixes to a bug that caused adjustments based on Pokémon Natures not to be reflected when using candies to gain EXP
  • Fixes to a bug that caused multiple messages to be unintentionally sent in a single day to the research community (when sleep is tracked twice in one day, the results of only the first sleep research session will be sent to friends)
  • Fixes to a bug that caused session photos not to be displayed when the graphic quality was set low
  • Fixes to a bug that caused Error 028001 to occur when the Auto Cook button was pressed repeatedly

Future Update Plans

Changes to the research community specs are planned so that when receiving Pokémon candies from friends, it will be possible to occasionally receive two Pokémon candies instead of one. The higher a user’s closeness with a particular friend, the higher the chance of receiving two Pokémon candies from that friend.

This will be a great quality of life update, as currently one you hit the higher levels of friendship, it seems almost pointless to keep a friend on your list with no further rewards. This way you can continue to help your friends in a worthwhile way! Especially if you pay attention and consider which Pokémon Candy is most valuable for your research community.
