On January 29th 2025, trading officially went live in Pokémon TCG Pocket! Here’s everything you need to know about how to trade in TCG Pocket:
In order to trades with other trainers, you need Trade Stamina (or hourglasses to increase your stamina) and trade tokens. You can acquire trade tokens by completing missions in game, or in the Obtain Items section by consuming duplicate cards with a rarity of three diamonds or higher. Trade Tokens are discussed in more detail in the next section. Trade Stamina is regained over time, or you can use Hourglasses to speed it up.
To trade, head to the Social Hub in game (the middle tab), and hit Trade. You’ll then be given the option to trade with any of your friends in game.
| Card Rarity | Trading Cost |
| 1 Diamond | 0 Trade Token |
| 2 Diamond | 0 Trade Token |
| 3 Diamond | 120 Trade Token |
| 4 Diamond | 500 Trade Token |
| 1 Star | 400 Trade Token |

Trade Tokens are one of the required items for some trades in Pokémon TCG Pocket. These can be obtained through special events or in the Obtain Items section by consuming duplicate cards with a rarity of three diamonds or higher.
To get to the Obtain Items section, click into your ‘My Cards’ section, the second tab in the bottom main menu, and click on the individual card you wish to trade in. There will then be a button to Obtain Items underneath the card itself. Click that, and you will be asked what you wish to trade it for. Only card that are 3 Diamond and above rarity can be exchanged for Trade Tokens.
The higher level rarity the card, the most Trade Tokens you get in return. Here is what exchanging one card in the Obtain Items section gives for each rarity rewards in Trade Tokens:
| Card Rarity | Trade Token Exchange |
| 1 Diamond | 0 Trade Token |
| 2 Diamond | 0 Trade Token |
| 3 Diamond | 25 Trade Token |
| 4 Diamond | 125 Trade Token |
| 1 Star | 100 Trade Token |
| 2 Star | 300 Trade Token |
| 3 Star | 300 Trade Token |
| Crown Rare | 1500 Trade Token |
- Trading can be only be done between friends.
- You can only trade for cards of the same rarity. You can check our card rarity guide here to know all the particulars. For example, a 2 diamond must be traded for a 2 diamond.
- Only cards available in the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island (A1a) sets can be traded. However, trades will be expanded to other sets in the future.
- Only cards with a rarity from 1 Diamond to 4 Diamond and 1 Star can be traded. Cards of 2 Star, 3 Star, and Crown rarity cannot be traded.
- Hourglasses and Trade Tokens will be consumed for trading.
- The next set is also planned to be added later this month.
Note that 4 Diamond cards include regular art versions of EX cards (not full art) while 1 Star cards include full art versions of non-EX cards. These cards are typically the most useful in battle and rarer for collectors.
The in-game notification does share that in the future they plan to expand the range of cards that can be traded, so hopefully that include not only the new set, but the higher rarity cards!
