Pokémon TCG Pocket Trading Update

Trainers, after initial feedback on the complexity of the trading system in Pokémon TCG Pocket, the developers have shared an update on the changes they will be making to the system!

They are aiming for these changes to be implemented by Autumn 2025, and hope that the changes will make the game simpler, more accessible, and more fun for players.

Removal of Trade Tokens

  • Trade Tokens will be removed completely from the game
  • Instead of Trade Tokens, cards with a 2 diamond, 3 diamond and one star rarity will require Shinedust
  • When you open a boosted pack and get a card you already have registered in the Dex, you earn Shinedust.
  • Currently Shinedust is also used to obtain Flair, so the amount you earn is going to be re-assessed as it will also be needed for trading.
  • The aim of this change is to allow you to trade more cards than before.
  • Trade Tokens you currently own will be able to be converted into Shinedust when they are removed from the game.
  • There will be no changes to how one diamond and two diamond rarity cards will be traded.

Other Trade Updates

Another exciting update to the trading system, will be the ability to share cards that you are interested in trading for via the in-game trading system.

Currently unless you are trading with someone you know personally, you can’t really easily trade for something you need because you are relying on being randomly offered the needed card in a trade.

In addition to these announced changes, it was also shared that TCG Pocket will be looking into ways to accommodate cards that are currently unavailable to trade, including promo cards and two star rarity cards.

This is a very exciting change and shows that Pokémon TCG Pocket is listening to community feedback to improve their systems. We can’t wait to see the trade system be updated!
