‘Taiyō no Ōkami’ by mingosanch, Furhimi Inari-Taisha, Kyoto, Japan.

‘When my brother and I visited the famous Fushimi Inari shrine, I was blown away by how many gates there were spread all across the hillside. As foxes are closely associated with Inari and the shrine, it only seemed fitting to take an AR photo of Ninetales! I made sure to take the photo of Ninetales as my buddy so I could add sparkles to the shot by petting Ninetales.’

‘Blazing Fly-by’ by Feresk, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines.

‘One of my favorite takes this year. A friend invited me to a secluded restaurant on the top floor of a building, and this Moltres appeared, so I took a quick snap!’

‘Johto legends collide’ by SilverBullet00, Oceanside, CA, USA.

‘The clash of titans a millenia in the making’

‘Radiance’ by mingosanch, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

‘Sudden Strike’ by Embravery, Idaho, United States.

‘I love taking documentary-style photos showcasing interactions between Pokemon. Predator-prey relations are especially exciting, and I think I did a very good job with this one. Somehow I was really able to capture the speed of the moment!’

‘I am moved by Laplace’s singing voice. Don’t forget to find your purpose in life.’

‘Rosy Reflection’ by mingosanch, Fort Barry, California, USA.

‘During my recent trip to the Bay Area, my cousin and I took a day trip north of Golden Gate Bridge. One of the places we explored was Battery Mendell, an abandoned coastal gun battery overlooking the water. When taking this photo of two ravens perched atop the battery, I was lucky enough to save the photo right as Murkrow and one of the ravens were looking at one another. Making AR photos seem realistic by having Pokémon interact with the real world is always challenging, especially with living creatures, so I was very lucky to get such an immersive photo!’

‘Going on a late night walk with my snow pokemon. They’re so excited winter is coming!!’

‘afterglow’ by TAKA-RV, Toyama Prefecture, Japan.

‘I combined the image of ginkgo leaves swaying in the ripples of the rain with Mesprit’s motif.’

‘Blazing White Yang’ by mingosanch, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

‘In anticipation of the upcoming Unova Tour event, I wanted to take AR photos of Reshiram and Zekrom for some giveaways in my community. I’ve always loved the box art for Pokémon Black, so I tried my best to recreate that image. I’m extremely proud of how close I got! Finding the right background was a little tricky, but eventually, I found a bridge that gave me a perfect view of the night sky with no trees or buildings in the background.’

Edits Photobomb icon

The below images are composites/full edits, made using a combination AR, existing images, and extensive editing.

‘GO Fest New York City 2024’ by @pokesnaps_by_aaron (IG), @aaronspokesnaps (Twitter/X, Bluesky), New York City, NY, United States.

‘With NYC being a location for in-person GO Fest in 2024, I wanted to celebrate by showcasing Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts available during the event. I had a lot of fun with friends at this year’s event, and I think my editing skills in this photo are something to be proud of.’

‘A gentle moment’ by nana15AR, Hiroshima City, Japan.

‘Cute Pokemon playing with flowers.
I made a mobile phone wallpaper full of smiles and fun.’

‘First Christmas’ by Limu, Near Yokohama Chinatown.

‘Christmas is the best time to spend with your favorite Pokemon.’

‘Wild Area Global 2024’ by @pokesnaps_by_aaron (IG), @aaronspokesnaps (Twitter/X, Bluesky), New York City, NY, United States.

‘As part of the Wild Area Global 2024 event, I wanted to experiment with AR edits using Gigantamax Pokémon. This was a challenge since you can’t take high quality photos of Gigantamax Pokémon in-app. My workaround was to take a screenshot of Toxtricity in the Sword/Shield Pokédex, extract it from the background, and import it into Photoshop. I personally think this experiment went well!’

AR Masters Photobomb icon

The below images are taken by our AR Masters.

‘Pikachu and Comfey’ by kittypokemonsalot, Lincolnshire, UK.

‘This is my favourite photo that I took in 2024, in part because of how tricky it was to take! It required finding somewhere that I could have two different levels for the height of the Pokémon because Pikachu floated a lot higher than Comfey, and it took some serious tweaking and adjusting to get it just right. I was so happy to be able to execute a photo I’d had in my head for a long time thanks to the new AR system!’
