Pokémon World Champ Wolfey Glick has a message for everyone

2016 Pokémon VGC World Champion, beloved YouTuber, and multi-time tournament winner… Wolfey Glick is a beloved figure who has actively competed (and won) several championships in his illustrated career. However, it looks like this may soon be coming to an end, due to a shocking and serious issue that has shaken the Pokémon community.

Wolfey took to his YouTube channel in a video titled “Moving forward,” wherein he shared some harrowing experiences he faced in competitions during the 2024-2025 period. In several of these tournaments, Wolfey was groped by fans while taking photos with him.

Such behavior equates to sexual harassment, and it is non-consensual, inappropriate, and deeply disturbing for anyone affected. Wolfey was subjected to such behavior on several occasions, raising concerns about consent and personal boundaries.

And these incidents of groping are not the only issues Wolfey had to go through. During the North American Internationals, Wolfey was suffering from a stiff and painful neck. To make matters worse, multiple people touched or grabbed him (non-sexually) to get his attention, causing more pain.

These events took a toll on Wolfey, and he had to leave the tournament early after elimination. In fact, during Worlds 2025, he preferred to watch the competition from his hotel room rather than be at the venue.

As a result of these experiences, the same tournaments that once propelled Wolfey to enjoy competing in have turned into occasions of major anxiety. He no longer feels the urge to ever step foot in a tournament again unless measures are adopted to minimize fan interaction and avoid any possibility of such instances ever again.

Moving forward

Wolfey mustered a lot of courage to create this video, and needless to say, he will be skipping live tournaments for the foreseeable future. He highlighted four months as a tentative time period. This means that he’ll skip the Latin America Nationals, Las Vegas Regionals, and Toronto Regionals.

This break would likely cost Wolfey a qualification for the next Worlds, and even if he does, he may choose not to compete until conditions improve.

Any form of interaction without consent is a complete no-no, and no amount of reasoning can ever justify touching a person inappropriately. Public figures like Wolfey Glick are bound to receive the attention of fans, and while it is natural to get excited meeting someone one admires, it is never okay to challenge their boundaries.

Wolfey quips that he has now become a symbol of the Pokémon community, but one should not forget that he is a person with emotions, feelings, and boundaries like all of us. Ultimately, whether it’s a reputed figure or a total stranger, groping, forcefully touching, and similar interactions are just wrong.

We at GO Hub stand with Wolfey and his decisions and are glad that he is looking at options that suit his mental health and happiness. We wish him the best in all his pursuits going forward and urge people to be considerate about how they interact with others, in-person or virtually.
