Regional Pokémon List and Locations

A complete, updated list of Pokémon GO regional exclusives, their locations, and the biome-exclusive Pokémon found only in certain environments.

Looking for every region-exclusive Pokémon in Pokémon GO? This updated regional Pokémon list shows where each regional exclusive can be found, including Pokémon limited to specific countries, continents, hemispheres and smaller geographic areas.

Regional Pokémon are normally available only in designated parts of the world, although some can also be obtained through special events, raids, Eggs or trading. The table below lists all current Pokémon GO regional exclusives and their locations, followed by a separate guide to biome-exclusive Pokémon such as Wiglett, Silicobra and Toedscool.

All Regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO

There are currently 51 Pokémon species with some form of regional restriction. That becomes 57 Pokédex entries if you also count Gastrodon, Simisage, Simisear, Simipour, Floette and Florges. Regional forms and Furfrou trims count under the base species, while biome-exclusive Pokémon are listed separately.

The table shows where each Pokémon is normally available. Regional raid bosses can only be encountered when they are part of the current raid rotation.

How to Get Regional Pokémon Without Travelling

You usually need to visit a Pokémon’s region to catch it, but there are other ways to fill the regional entries in your Pokédex:

  • Trading: Trade with someone who already has the regional you need. This can be done in person or through a Remote Trade earned with a Forever Friend. Remote Trades are limited, and Pokémon caught within the last 30 days cannot be traded remotely.
  • Special events: Pokémon GO Fest, Pokémon GO Tour and other major events sometimes make selected regionals available worldwide.
  • Safari Zone and City Safari events: These events often bring regionals to the featured city for a limited time.
  • Raids: If a regional Pokémon or Ultra Beast is in raids, you may be able to join remotely through an invitation from someone in the right region.
  • Eggs and research: Events sometimes add regionals to Eggs, Field Research or Timed Research.
  • Postcards: Pin Postcards from different parts of the world to unlock Scatterbug encounters that lead to regional Vivillon patterns.

Check the current event details before travelling or using a Remote Raid Pass, as regional availability often changes during events.

Different types of Regional Pokémon

Regional Raid Bosses

Some Legendary Pokémon and Ultra Beasts are split between different parts of the world when they appear in raids. They are not always available, so check the current raid schedule before trying to find one.

Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf can also appear in the wild within their regions, but wild encounters are extremely rare. Regional raid bosses can sometimes be caught through Remote Raids if you receive an invitation from someone in the correct region.

Regional Forms, Eggs and Trims

Not every entry in the table is a completely separate regional species. Some Pokémon have a different form, colour or trim depending on where they are caught or changed.

Shellos, Basculin, Oricorio, Flabébé, Paldean Tauros, Tatsugiri and Squawkabilly all have forms tied to specific parts of the world. White and Orange Flower Flabébé are available worldwide, as are Yellow and White Plumage Squawkabilly.

Furfrou works differently. Furfrou itself is available worldwide, but some trims can only be unlocked through Form Change while you are in the required region.

Mime Jr. is normally found in 5 km Eggs obtained in Europe. The Egg must be collected in Europe, but it can be hatched anywhere.

Biome Exclusive Pokémon – Toedscool, Silicobra & Wiglett

Some Pokémon only spawn in specific in-game biomes. These are not true regional Pokémon because the same type of biome can exist in many countries, but they are still limited by the local environment. Pokémon GO uses real-world map and climate data to decide which biome an area belongs to and which Pokémon can appear there.

The following Pokémon have biome-specific spawns:

Pokémon Biome
Sprite of Wiglett from Pokémon GO Wiglett Beach
Sprite of Silicobra from Pokémon GO Silicobra Desert-like
Sprite of Toedscool from Pokémon GO Toedscool Forest
Sprite of Snowy Castform from Pokémon GO Snowy Castform Snow land cover, can also spawn during Snow weather

The main biome types are:

  • City
  • Forest
  • Mountain
  • Beach/Water
  • Beach only
  • Desert-like

Each biome has its own spawn pool, and those spawns can change with the Season. You will generally find Water types near water, Grass and Bug types in forests, and Rock or Ground types around mountains and quarries. City biomes can feature Pokémon inspired by human-made objects, including Grimer, Magnemite and Voltorb. Pokémon GO uses data from OpenStreetMap and the U.S. Geological Survey climate map to define these environments.

What is the Beach only Biome?

Pokémon GO distinguishes between Beach/Water and Beach-only biomes. Beach/Water can cover many areas near water, while a Beach-only biome must contain a mapped beach or sandy shoreline. This can include coastal beaches, artificial beaches and inland beaches.

What is the Desert-like Biome?

The Desert-like biome is fairly rare. An area generally needs little vegetation and a dry or desert climate. The UK and large parts of continental Europe do not have qualifying areas, which makes Silicobra difficult to find there.

How to Collect Vivillon Patterns in Pokémon GO

Vivillon patterns are tied to Postcards. Pinning a Postcard adds progress toward the Vivillon medal for the region it came from. Once you reach the required milestone, you will receive a Scatterbug encounter that evolves into the matching Vivillon pattern.

Pinning Postcards from eligible regions adds progress to the corresponding Vivillon Collector medal. Reach a medal milestone and you will unlock a Scatterbug encounter. The Postcard region tied to that Scatterbug determines its Vivillon pattern.

See our complete Vivillon map and pattern guide for the regions associated with every pattern.
