Niantic support answered a very important question today, officially stating that EX Raid tests are still ongoing.

A Trainer named Richard opened a support ticket for a wasted Raid pass, which he previously lost due to a network error.

In the following conversation, Richard inquired about the status of EX Raids and if there are plans for any future tests.

Niantic Support refused to give any dates, but did confirm that EX Raid field test are not finished yet.

EX Raids testing is ongoing. We’re still working on improving this feature before it is made available globally […] Unfortunately, we are not able to comment on the specifics of future features as they are subject to change.

There have been no reports of any new EX Raids in little over two weeks, which created a lot of confusion among players. It’s still not clear when EX Raid testing will resume, but it’s possible that a number of changes are happening in the background.

In general, when it comes to EX Raid format and their impact on the game, players seem to be very divided.

We’ve heard a lot of complaints that regular raiders are not getting invites despite their efforts and that weird Gyms are picked as raid venues — it remains to be seen how the feature will function once it’s completed.

We expect a new wave of invites rather soon. Given the frequent timestamp changes observed in the GAME MASTER file, Niantic is deploying new server side code almost daily – we’ll know more soon.

Having them weekly was fine, it gives us something to look forward to. But it’s been over 2 weeks with no ex raids happening. It’s disappointing

    • Landon Mercer

      I agree

    • Spetsen

I have been attending Safari zones for the last two weeks, so I wouldn’t have been able to attend any EX raids in my regular gyms anyways. I don’t think that’s the reason we haven’t had them though, as the Safari zones only impact a relatively small percentage of European players but…

  • Miyuka Szczepanski

Soon they’ll be extremely common. People just need more patience.

    • Josh Hack

No, we need Niantic to not be so incompetent and deliver promised content when they said they would drop it, Not 2 Months later

      • Daniel Nering

Or we can wait for them to get it right and not release broken content. Stop being so self entitled.

        • Jayden Plays Pokemon GO

Well that’s what the testing is for… a duh! Test Raid, fix seen errors, raid, fix errors, and continue until its near perfect or impossibly perfect…

When things are fixed there’s always the smallest bug that remains that is hard to detect by servers and players which do little to no harm.

        • Fuji San

Stop defending these Niantic a$$hats. This has nothing to do with “self entitled” or any such bs.
Niantic is making countless MILLIONS on this game, all the time. They can very well expected to get their stuff together and release stuff in time, and to fix those countless bugs. But either they’re too lazy, too incompetent or, most likely, both of the above.

      • Jayden Plays Pokemon GO

EXACTLY!!! MY EXACT THOUGHTS ON NIANTIC!!

      • Casey

Money talks. Get everyone you know to stop spending money on the game and things will progress much faster than you could ever imagine.

    • William Kelly

Actualy to comment on this real quick, by the time EX raids become a common proccess we will have moved onto gen3 by then, I strongly believe the fans want something in the NOW to tie them over.

  • William Kelly

Once a month atleaat ? If so next week by Tuesday I would like to see new wave of passes as 50% of my rural area who raids more then some of the urban areas… We have lv40s an 38s missing their pass.. *rant*

  • Hank

WE DONT NEED ANY NEW RAIDS OR POKEMONS. FIX THIS STUPID GAME FROM ALL THE ERRORS THAT YOU NEVER TAKE CARE OF. ALL THE BUGGS AND GAME PROBLEMS YOURE CAUSING.

I REALLY WISH NIANTIC NEVER WAS A PART OF THE POKEMON GO.

    • Spetsen

have you heard of lower case? it’s my favorite case.

      • Great answer 😊😉. It’s my favorite too xd

      • peponzio

I like default case, it always works when nothing else will.

As for the bugs, errors and updates, well they are different departments. Some people work on new features, some work on fixing problems.

They are not mutually exclusive. And work at different paces.

    • Partysaurus Rex

You wish Niantic was never part of Pokemon Go… so you’d simply rather not have the game at all? Has Niantic bound your soul to the game and forced you to continue playing? I mean for everyone who wants PoGo to simply be a port from a nintendo handheld to your phone… you could simply pick up the Nintendo games, for a deeper experience.

  • Jonathan Ryan (Datdude1970)

Frankly, I have no issue with any of this. Niantic never said the EX raids were launched, they were in testing. I am willing to be patient and wait for it to function correctly. However, what I would like is more information on the mechanics – how does it work, EXACTLY? Niantic should tell us exactly what the parameters for success are. What is the raid window that will trigger an EX invite? If I raid a Legendary, does that count toward getting an EX invite? Will they spawn every two weeks, weekly, monthly or whatever? That is what I am looking for. In lieu of that, we are forced to speculate or wrongly place emphasis on scraps of information that may be wrong. Communication is the key.

    • hkmaly

I agree we should be said this but I would expect Niantic didn’t finished testing the parameters yet so they don’t know themselves.

      • peponzio

Yeah, they are probably still adjusting the parameters given the feedback. But they probably have them all smoothed up by now, they just can`t tell us because “they might change in the future”.

        You know, usual PR.

    • Pokeballdk Denmark

That is not true, but PGH has censored me for telling the truth and for no reason at all. So I am not able to prove my point. This hub is obviously only for pro-Niantic opinions, so I will leave this forum and never return.

      • Higher_Ground

adios, but if you actually read this site you’d know it’s quite the opposite. Most commenters and a few of the authors are just as critical of Niantic.

  • Nathan

we dont have ex raids because people are unable to login during most or the entire raid getting ripped off. At this point they might as well give us 100% versions with the best movesets and hundereds of RE Items

  • Vickey Shivalkar

I am staying in Mumbai. my friends and me play Pokemon go. We create what’s app group for raid. We do raid all day and every day but we can’t get ex raid pass. When ex raid was started contributing in India in Jio gym we can do at least 6 raid.but niantic has shown the ex raid pass is getting at any gym
So we can do at least 20 to 30 raids for getting ex raid pass but we can’t get it.
    So what can we do

    • peponzio

Wait for the final global release and follow all the conditions that will be stated when that happens.

  • Lars Einar Tvedt Honstad

Never been an ex raid, and im afraid we never get one..
