A New Wayfarer Challenge for Chile and India!

Niantic has announced a brand new Wayfarer Challenge, and this time round it focuses on Chile and India! This collaborative challenge takes place on the Niantic Wayfarer platform, where Trainers evaluate nominations for Wayspots. Wayspots are the real-life locations that appear in Pokémon GO as PokéStops and Gyms on your map. With the Wayfarer Challenge, you’ll be able to evaluate Wayspots and earn exclusive in-game rewards!

What is Niantic Wayfarer?

Niantic Wayfarer is a platform where Niantic Explorers can nominate interesting real-world locations to be turned into Wayspots, which appear in Pokémon GO as PokéStops and Gyms. These Explorers are you, Pokémon GO Trainers—and players of other Niantic games, such as Ingress and Pikmin Bloom.

You can nominate interesting locations, objects, and structures in their area to become Wayspots in Pokémon GO in the PokéStop Contributions section of the Settings menu. For example, you can choose a piece of incredible street art, a graffiti wall, or a notable landmark in your neighborhood, and nominate it to become a Wayspot.

Once you’ve nominated your Wayspot, you can visit the Niantic Wayfarer platform to review the nominations from your region and vote on whether they should be eligible to become Wayspots. In Pokémon GO, Wayspots that are approved by enough players according to the Wayfarer criteria will appear in-game as new PokéStops and Gyms.

The Wayfarer Challenge

  • From Friday, March 7, until Sunday, March 9, 2025, Trainers in Chile can participate in the Wayfarer Challenge.
  • From Monday, March 10, until Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Trainers in India can participate in the Wayfarer Challenge.

You will need to access the Niantic Wayfarer platform and review Wayspot nominations to take part! You’re also encouraged to nominate new locations on Pokémon GO to help your community reach exciting rewards.

If the number of approvals meets the stipulated goals, all participants in the Wayfarer Challenge will receive exclusive rewards in Pokémon GO!
