Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday during the month of January. Eevee Spotlight Hour takes place on January 9th, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with 2× Catch Candy bonus.
This Spotlight Hour is the second January 2024 Pokémon spotlight, and it is especially interesting as Eevee can be shiny and you will get 2x Candy on catch! In other words, this is a great time to farm those Eevee candies to stock up for the evolutions.
Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Eevee caught. Here’s everything you need to know!

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Eevee if they are Mega/Primal evolved.
A Note on Mega Catch Bonus
While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.
One of our PVP writers, JTizzler, wrote this summary:
- Umbreon is a Great League and Ultra League staple. It has extreme bulk, a decent moveset and coverage, and can be an excellent 3rd shield in many situations by being able to take hit after hit while firing back with moves of its own. It now prefers to run Last Resort over Psychic as its coverage move, due to the recent double nerf to the move Psychic (aimed at Medi, but hitting other mons in the process). Worth noting that this will either require your extreme patience for the next opportunity to evolve Eevee for the exclusive move, or an Elite TM.
- Sylveon is pretty decent in the Ultra League particularly, and was absolutely everywhere after being given access to the relatively cheap charged move Psyshock. In recent seasons, other fairies such as Clefable, G-Weez and Tapu Fini have risen in prominence due to their greater versatility, but Sylveon can still be decent in the right team and meta.
- Eevee is very decent itself in the Little Cup format, but requires not one but two Elite Charged TM’s to obtain its optimal moveset. Up to you whether you think this expense is worth it for you!
Eevee’s evolutions do not hold a place in the Meta for PVE, most of the time there is a better, easily obtainable option. Unless you’re new and still building up some higher-level counters, it’s worth having all the Eeveelutions for the dex. However don’t spend Candy and Stardust on power-ups for any other than Umbreon or Sylveon, your resources are better used elsewhere. Shiny Eevee and its evolutions are worth keeping just for the sake of having it.
