Gigantamax Rillaboom returns to Pokémon GO during a special Max Battle Day event on Saturday, August 1, 2026. For the first time, it can be shiny! Trainers can look forward to increased Max Particle limit, three special trades for the day, Gigantamax Rillaboom appearing on all Power Spots and more!

Gigantamax Rillaboom will feature in Max Battles during the event! Gigantamax Rillaboom is a pure Grass type, meaning it is weak to Bug Fire Fire and Poison type moves. For the first time in Pokémon GO, you can encounter shiny Gigantamax Rillaboom if you are lucky!

Where can I find Max Battles?
Max Battles will take great teamwork and only appear at Power Spots that sporadically appear in different locations, so we’re making it easier to find both these battles and other Trainers to help you take them on.
You can visit the Map to see the locations where Max Battles might appear during an event, in addition to those in progress. You can also filter the map, or check out nearby Events, to show nearby community meetups days in advance, allowing you to plan more seamlessly.
These community meetups are hosted by a Community Ambassador, who receives official support to run Pokémon GO events for their communities. If there are no Community Ambassadors near you, you can also search for and find the meetups closest to you.
If you’ve never attended a meetup before, Max Battles are a great reason to go out and meet your local community of Trainers for the first time. Coordinate more easily with friends, family, and other Trainers to raise the odds of success in battle together!
