Pokemon GO Torkoal (Max CP 2036) is a four legged CO2 emission machine, also known as the “Coal Pokemon”. Popularized by Ash Ketchum himself, Torkoal, a pure fire type Pokémon was one of Ash’s top choices during his journey through the Hoenn Region. However, in Pokemon Go, this Pokemon suffers from low stats and CP and thus is nothing more than a Pokedex filler.
Torkoal stats and CP are mediocre and its moves are rather ordinary for a fire type, resulting in a Pokemon that is yet another Generation III Pokedex filler.
Where to find Torkoal in Pokemon GO?
Torkoal is region exclusive to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, parts of Oman, and general Indochina area

Torkoal in the Pokémon GO meta
Different from how the anime depicted Torkoal, we don’t expect anything exciting from this coal-ninja Turtle. Sure, it has great defensive stats, however… it’s ATK is just mediocre and its moves are rather ordinary, save for Earthquake. There are simply better fire types in the game, with more variety and better stats.
Additionally, Torkoal does not have any mega evolution, and will be another Pokedex filler in Pokémon Go.
Pokémon GO Torkoal Moves
Best moveset: Fire Spin and Overheat
Torkoal’s movepool consists of:
- Fire Spin fire (Quick)
- Ember fire (Quick)
- Overheat fire (Charged, 1 Bar)
- Earthquake ground (Charged, 1 Bar)
- Solar Beam grass (Charged, 1 Bar)
Accordingly, Torkoal’s best moveset is Fire Spin and Overheat. However, due to its low CP and offensive stats, don’t expect this Pokemon to be anything spectacular in battle.
Shiny Torkoal in Pokemon GO
A normal Torkoal has a reddish brown skin, and dark grey bands on its legs and neck. It has a black shell with warm red holes.
A shiny Torkoal has very similar colors to its normal counterpart except that it has a yellow skin.
