Registeel Raid Guide

Best Registeel counters are Chandelure, Moltres, Entei, Heatran, Blaziken and Charizard. Registeel counters are heavily based its Fire-type weakness, but you can use Fighting and Ground type counters as well. You can capture Registeel in the following CP ranges:

  • 1326 – 1398 CP at Lvl 20, 100% IV Registeel
  • 1658 – 1748 CP during Snow weather, at Lvl 25, 100% IV Registeel

Registeel is a Steel type Pokemon and it’s recommended to have at least 5-6 Trainers in order to take it down, although the challenge seekers can attempt a trio win. You can read more about Registeel in our Registeel family guide.

Registeel Counters

Since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to remove Frustration with a Charge TM, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article. That being said, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, use it.

Registeel moves

Picking Registeel counters is simple due to its mono-Steel typing (which enables exploiting three common weaknesses) and a lack of surprises in its movepool. Registeel can have the following moves:

Fast moves Charge moves
  • Metal Claw Steel
  • Rock Smash Fighting
  • Lock On Normal
  • Flash Cannon Steel
  • Focus Blast Fighting
  • Hyper Beam Normal
  • Zap Cannon Electric (legacy)

Overall, Registeel is an easy Raid Boss to beat and rather disappointing for a legendary raid. It’s low CP and low stats (bar defense) make it an easy target for all of its counters, especially once you realize that it is unable to do much damage to its direct counters.

Weather Effects

The best overall weather to smack a Registeel in is Sunny, as it boosts none of its moves and makes the Super Effective Fire and Ground moves do their job. One can attempt to put out the Machamp Army in Cloudy however it will boost its Rock Smash and Focus Blast, and so help you if you try and take it down in Snow with its double Steel moveset. Here is a visual chart to illustrate this:

Weather Pro-Attacker Pro-Registeel
Sunny Boosts Super Effective Fire and [Ground] attacks. No Benefit
Cloudy Boosts Super Effective Fighting attacks. Boosts Rock Smash Fighting and Focus Blast Fighting
Partly Cloudy No Benefit Boosts Hyper Beam Normal
Snow No Benefit Boosts Metal Claw Steel and Flash Cannon Steel
Fog N/A N/A
Rainy N/A N/A
Windy N/A N/A
