Barboach Raid Guide

Barboach

Barboach is available in raids as a Tier 1 raid boss in Pokémon GO, and it can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 427 – 468 CP at Level 20, no weather boost
  • 534 – 585 CP at Level 25 with Rainy or Sunny weather boost

It is a Water & Ground type, which makes it only weak to Grass (x2) type moves. It is available as a full odds shiny.

Whenever the shadow variant of a Pokémon listed below is available in the game, it is strongly recommended to use it over its regular/purified counterpart. However, since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to TM away Frustration, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article.

Barboach only has one weakness but the list of Pokémon that can take advantage of its double weakness to grass type moves is almost endless. If you don’t have any of the Pokémon listed above powered up, you can always use:

  • Generalist” Pokémon such as Psycho Cut + Psystrike* Mewtwo
  • Other heavy-hitting megas

Barboach shouldn’t take more than a couple of seconds to beat if you’re using the right counters, but don’t worry too much if you don’t have strong grass type attackers powered up.

Barboach is a decent option to consider in Little Cup, as it functions more or less as its evolution (Whiscash). It’s basically a “baby Whiscash”, so basically a Mud Boy with access to an ice type move to cover its only weakness especially when shields are down. Barboach gets access to Ice Beam instead of Blizzard, so it’s not really a nuke, but a move their counters will probably want to shield. If you want to try it out, I’d recommend running it with Mud Shot, Mud Bomb/Aqua Tail and Ice Beam.

Whiscash on the other hand is one of the best Mud Boys to use in Great League, thanks to its great (and spammy) Mud Shot, Mud Bomb and Blizzard moveset. Whiscash doesn’t really want to see Pokémon with access to grass type moves, but even then it can defend itself thanks to Blizzard.

We hope you found this raid guide useful, happy hunting!
