December Community Day: Best Raid Attackers to Get!

Posted in

December Community Day is nearly upon us, and expectations are running high for the weekend of December 16-17, 2023. During both days, Trainers have the unique opportunity to catch up, get some of the best Attackers currently available in the game, and get a ton of shiny Pokémon.

We already wrote at length about all Community Day Exclusive Moves in PvP and about PvP Priorities for December Community Day 2023, so this article is strictly focused on the top Pokémon you should be aiming for if you want to improve your Raiding teams.

Without further ado, here are the best Raid Attackers you can get during 2023’s Pokémon GO December Community day.

Tyranitar

Tyranitar

Tyranitar is one of the best Rock and Dark-type attackers, and Smack Down (*) is what makes Tyranitar into a viable Rock attacker. Smack down has to be paired with Stone Edge, and it allows Tyranitar to perform well beyond his non-Smack Down range.

In all honesty, Tyranitar is mostly used as a Dark-type, but it is still incredibly important to get a Rock-typed Tyranitar, as you will be mega evolving those into Mega Tyranitars.

Don’t skip, especially if you have a Shadow Larvitar waiting to be evolved!

Gigalith

Gigalith

Smack Down and Meteor Beam (*) give Gigalith the pounding power it needs to raise to the top 15 Rock-type attackers in the game. Sure, Shadow Tyranitar, Mega Tyrantiar, Terrakion and Rhyperior all perform better, but Gigalith has the niche appeal of being a regular, non-legendary Pokémon, that can be evolved for 0 Candy if traded.

Hydreigon

Hydreigon

We already mentioned that Tyranitar is usually used as a Dark-type attacker, and that is true, but Bite and Brutal Swing (*) Hydreigon is a monster on its own. Our very own Teban54 was very critical of Hydreigon in Community Day Hydreigon as Dark-Type Raid Attacker: Possibilities, DPS^3*TDO and DPS charts, but he is right – this is a great addition for Trainers who do not have a fully built team of Dark-type attackers.

Chesnaught

Chesnaught

With Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant (*), Chesnaught ranks just below Roserade, but slightly better than all other non-legendaries (incl. all other Frenzy Plant starters). This is an amazing addition for ew players who missed Kartana raids and don’t have enough Roserade, or they simply don’t have unique 6 non-shadow Grass-types. Be aware that Chesnaught still ranks WAY below Kartana. Level 30 Kartana is 10% better than Level 50 Chesnaught.

Greninja

Greninja

Water Shuriken/Hydro Cannon Greninja is the #1 non-legendary non-shadow non-mega Water attacker. It’s a clear improvement from the traditional non-legendary Water types: Swampert, Kingler, Samurott, etc. Water Shuriken and Hydro Cannon (*) are the mandatory moves for Greninja to get this level of performance, so be sure to get yourself a good Greninja if you skipped on Origin Pulse Kyogre.

Charizard

Charizard

Charizard on its own is nothing special, and there are better Legendary Fire-types out there, but things change dramatically when Charizard mega evolves into a Mega Y Charizard. Fire Spin and Blast Burn (*) are the best moves Charizard can have, and they give a solid 10% damage increase over Overheat, so be sure to get yourself a good Charizard for mega evolution.

Ursaluna

Ursaluna

Ursaluna is the best non-Legendary, non-Primal and non-Shadow Ground type you can have right now. Equipped with Tackle and High Horsepower (*), Ursaluna can do solid damage. Of course, Pokémon like Mega Garchomp and Primal Groudon are in a completely different league, and offer 25% more DPS with their best moves, but it’s still worth getting one.
