Hey Trainers,

Galarian Yamask will be a Ghost and Ground type T1 raid boss during the second half of the Halloween 2021 event. Galarian Yamask evolves into Runerigus if you win 10 raids with it as your buddy.

Yamask (Galarian)

Galarian Yamask should be quite easy to beat, since it’s just a T1 raid with multiple common weaknesses. Any player can beat it with decent Pokémon. It does have a little bulk, so try not to use any moves Galarian Yamask resists.

It’s a Ghost and Ground type, so it’s weak to Dark, Grass, Water, Ice and Ghost type attacks. It’s resistant to Bug and Rock, and it has a whopping 4 heavy resistances being Normal, Fighting, Poison, and Electric.

Top Counters

Shadows and Megas won’t be listed. They’re not necessary to take down a T1 in good time, and Shadow Pokémon are incredibly expensive to power up. However, if you have any of the listed Pokémon as shadow forms, they’re of course better.

Galarian Yamask’s moves aren’t particularly… threatening. Proceed without worry.

Conclusion

After being exclusive to Special Research last year, and only one available at that, Galarian Yamask finally has some availability. It’s got quite a grindy evolution requirement, and Runerigus’ moves leave much to be desired. If it follows in the path of its Unovan cousin Cofagrigus and gets Shadow Claw, it could be a halfway decent pick, especially in limited cups. Can only hope, right?

Stay safe, trainers!
