Pokémon GO Tour Johto: Complete Guide

Pokémon GO Tour: Johto, or Johto Tour, is a global, ticketed event, that takes place on February 26th, 2022 in Pokémon GO. Tickets are available for purchase in the in-app shop for USD $11.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency, plus any applicable taxes and fees).

During the event, Trainers will have the opportunity to meet all Johto Pokémon, including their shiny versions, and complete exclusive Timed, Special and Masterwork research quest lines. Additional bonuses apply, including the rare opportunity to catch the new Apex Pokémon: Apex Ho-Oh and Lugia.

  • Event icon Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time
  • Event icon On Sunday, February 27, 2022, Trainers will be able to participate in an in-person event at a few select locations

In addition to the free experience, Trainers can purchase a ticket for the exclusive ticketed experience.

Pick a version and a Johto starter

You’ll need to do more than choose between Gold Version and Silver Version in this year’s Pokémon GO Tour: Johto—you’ll also need to choose between Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile to adventure with.

The Pokémon you choose will be involved in your research tasks during the event, so choose wisely! Together, you’ll complete research with Professor Willow to learn more about the Johto region, build connections with your Pokémon, befriend other Trainers, and explore new places.

Ho-Oh

The following Pokémon will be attracted to Incense:

Gold Version increased shiny Pokémon

If you chose the Gold Version, you’ll have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Spinarak, Igglybuff, Natu, Hoppip, Sunkern, Misdreavus, Wobbuffet, Gligar, Shuckle, Teddiursa, Swinub, Mantine, and Ho-Oh.

Lugia

Silver Version exclusive Pokémon

The following Pokémon will be attracted to Incense:

Silver Version increased shiny Pokémon

If you chose the Silver Version, you’ll have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Ledyba, Cleffa, Sudowoodo, Hoppip, Yanma, Pineco, Delibird, Skarmory, Houndour, Phanpy, Miltank, Larvitar, and Lugia.

Pokémon GO Tour: Johto Ticket–exclusive Masterwork Research Encounters

Ticket holders who complete Pokémon GO Tour: Johto’s Special Research will unlock a new Masterwork Research line, which is designed to be completed over a long period of time.

By progressing through this Masterwork Research, Trainers can encounter these Legendary Shadow Pokémon. Apex Shadow Ho-Oh and Apex Shadow Lugia give off an aura that has never been seen before. Moreover, when purified, that aura seems to change.

Note: Ticket holders will be able to obtain both Apex Shadow Lugia and Apex Shadow Ho-Oh regardless of which version they select for Pokémon GO Tour: Johto.

Apex Shadow Ho-Oh

Ho-Oh

Apex Shadow Ho-Oh will know Sacred Fire+, a stronger version of Sacred Fire.
However, when purified Apex Shadow Ho-Oh will learn Sacred Fire++, a stronger version of Sacred Fire+

Sacred Fire +

Apex Shadow Ho-Oh knows Sacred Fire+, a stronger version of Sacred Fire.

  • Trainer Battles: 130 power
  • Gyms and raids: 135 power

Sacred Fire ++

When Apex Shadow Ho-Oh is purified, Sacred Fire+ will change to Sacred Fire++.

  • Trainer Battles: 130 power
  • Gyms and raids: 155 power

Apex Shadow Lugia

Lugia

Apex Shadow Lugia will know Aeroblast+, a stronger version of Aeroblast.
However, when purified Apex Shadow Lugia will learn Aeroblast++, a stronger version of Aeroblast+

Aeroblast+

Apex Shadow Lugia knows Aeroblast+, which is a stronger version of Aeroblast.

  • Trainer Battles: 170 power
  • Gyms and raids: 200 power

Aeroblast++

When Apex Shadow Lugia is purified, Aeroblast+ will change to Aeroblast++.

  • Trainer Battles: 170 power
  • Gyms and raids: 225 power

Pokémon GO Tour: Johto Celebi with Magic Leaf

Celebi

You’ll be able to complete event-exclusive Special Research, leading to an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon, Celebi. Make sure to catch Celebi during the event for a special move.

Celebi caught during the event will know the Fast Attack Magical Leaf Grass:

  • Trainer Battles: 10 power
  • Gyms and raids: 16 power

Pokémon GO Tour: Johto Rotating habitats

Rotating habitats will be featured during Pokémon GO Tour: Johto. There will be five different habitats active throughout the event, each inspired by some of the iconic locations in the Johto region.

You can look forward to different Pokémon appearing during each habitat’s featured times, and you’ll need to experience them all if you want to catch all the featured Pokémon! Check out the schedule below to find out which habitats will be active when. All times listed are in local time.

  • New Bark Town: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Violet City: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • National Park: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Goldenrod City: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Mt. Silver: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Pokémon GO Tour: Johto Features for Ticket holders (both versions)

Regardless of version selection, all ticket holders will be able to experience the following during Pokémon GO Tour: Johto.

  • Johto everywhere
  • Pokemon Encounter icon All Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region will be appearing in the wild, will be appearing in raids, will be appearing in encounters after research tasks, will be attracted to Incense, will hatch from Eggs, will be available via trading with friends, or will be obtainable via Evolution during this time.
  • Full Johto Shiny Pokémon Release
  • General icon All Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region will be available in their Shiny forms, some of them for the first time in Pokémon GO! This includes the featured Unown (G, O, T, U, R, and J) which will appear when using incense.
  • Celebi Research
  • Celebi
  • Research icon You’ll be able to complete event-exclusive Special Research, leading to an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon, Celebi. Make sure to catch Celebi during the event for a special move.
  • Masterwork Research
  • Research icon Once you complete the Special Research line, you’ll be able to access a second exclusive Masterwork Research story, intended to be worked on over a long period of time. This will test your skills as a Trainer
  • Collection Challenges
  • Battle Friend icon Earn rewards and level up your Elite Collector medal by completing nine Collection Challenges! Trainers will need to catch specific Pokémon according to a theme in a limited timeframe to complete these challenges.
  • Incense and Catching
  • Incense icon Different Pokémon will be attracted to Incense.
  • Candy icon You’ll earn extra Candy when catching featured Johto Pokémon
  • Raid Passes
  • Raid Pass icon A free bundle containing three Remote Raid Passes will be available in the shop.
  • Raid Pass icon You’ll get up to nine free Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms.
  • Egg bonuses
  • Egg icon Eggs will require one-quarter their normal Hatch Distance.
  • Egg icon You’ll earn twice the Candy for hatching Eggs.
  • Battle Friend icon You’ll get an exclusive in-game medal to commemorate the event.
  • Photobomb icon Take a snapshot for a surprise!
  • Shop icon You’ll be able to get special stickers by spinning PokéStops and purchasing them in the in-game shop.

Pokémon GO Tour: Johto nonticketed features

The following features will be available to all Trainers during the event, regardless of whether they purchase a ticket.

  • Some Pokémon originally discovered in Johto will be appearing in the wild, appearing in raids, and hatching from 7 km Eggs. Raids will include Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Lugia, and Ho-Oh! Lugia caught during the event will know the special attack Aeroblast, while Ho-Oh caught during the event will know the new special attack Sacred Fire!
  • Heracross and Corsola, which both usually appear only in certain regions in the world, will also be appearing in raids worldwide.
  • Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby will be hatching from 2 km Eggs.
  • You’ll be able to complete up to six Special Trades during the event.
  • Five rotating habitats will each feature different Pokémon.
  • You’ll be able to listen to special background music composed by Pokémon music producer Junichi Masuda.
  • You’ll be able to complete Timed Research related to Trainer Battles.
  • Eevee will not have a walking requirement to evolve Espeon or Umbreon until 11:00 p.m. local time.
