Magmar is a Tier 3 raid boss in Pokémon Go and is a part of the Festival of Lights event, running from November 5th, 10 AM local time – November 14th, 8 PM local time 2021. Magmar evolves into the funky Magmortar which is quite a spice pick in the meta.

Magmar can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 1298 – 1367 CP at Level 20, no weather boost
  • 1623 – 1710 CP at Level 25 with Sunny weather boost

With a mono Fire typing, it is weak to the Ground, Rock, and Water types. As such, its best counters include strong mega evolutions like Mega Blastoise, Mega Gengar, and Mega Gyarados. If you are not willing to mega evolve a Pokémon for the raid, then you can go ahead with Rhyperior, Garchomp, Kyogre, and Rampardos. For high-level trainers, Magmar is an easy solo. Trainers of lower levels can beat it if they go with a team of 2-3.
