This guide will tell you how to beat this Primal Beast, as well as its optimal stats, moves, and CP range.

Depending on your levels and counters, we would recommend 5+ trainers who are high level, and more if you don’t have optimal teams.

You need to be as prepared as possible when defeating a Primal Raid Boss, not only are they difficult to beat, but the quicker you beat it, the more Primal Energy you will get. Primal Raids are the hardest raids we have ever had in Pokémon GO.

How to Get Primal Groudon

You cannot catch Groudon in its primal evolved form from the raid. The primal raid boss is always catchable in its base form and as such, the CP ranges are for a regular Groudon.

Groudon can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 2260 – 2351 CP no weather boost
  • 2825 – 2939 CP boosted by Sunny weather boost

In order to get Primal Groudon you will need 400 Primal Energy for the initial evolution, then 80 Mega Energy to evolve the same Groudon again in the future. If you wait for their ‘cooldown’ period to end, Primal Evolution is free. This cooldown period is shorter the higher mega level your Primal Pokémon is. Primal Energy can be obtained via Primal Groudon Raids, and once you have evolved Primal Groudon, you can earn 100 Primal Energy per candy while walking it as your buddy. You can walk any Groudon to earn Primal Energy, as long as you have previously evolved one to register it to your Primal Pokédex.

Shiny Groudon

Like all Mega/Primal Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Groudon from a raid.

Regular Sprite Shiny Sprite
