Slaking Raid Guide

Slaking

Slaking is a Tier 3 raid boss in Pokémon Go. With the Normal typing, it is boosted by Partly Cloudy weather and its counters include strong Fighting type Pokémon such as Lucario, Conkeldurr, Machamp and Mega Lopunny. Slaking is quite bulky and is soloable primarily with Cloudy weather boost and/or mega evolution boost. For low-level trainers, 3-5 trainers are recommended for a successful raid.

Slaking is a good collectible and this raid serves as a good means to add this to your roster if you had missed its Community Day or are looking for candies for using Vigoroth in the Great League.

So let’s get on with this raid guide to help you successfully complete the Slaking raid!

Slaking Counters

Since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to remove Frustration with a Charge TM, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article. That being said, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, use it.

Let’s check out the top raid counters for Slaking:

Slaking Moveset Analysis

Slaking learns the following moves in Pokémon Go:

Fast Moves Charge Moves
  • Yawn Normal
  • Body Slam* Normal
  • Hyper Beam Normal
  • Earthquake Ground
  • Play Rough Fairy
[/hub-table]

Yawn is *yawn*

However, Yawn has a good energy gain. More importantly, Slaking has a MASSIVE ATK stat.

Body Slam hits frequently and can do quite a number on your Fighting type counters.

Hyper Beam is easy to dodge but hits very, very hard.

Earthquake deals a lot of damage and should be dodged.

Play Rough does super-effective damage against your Fighting type Pokémon and will KO them. Plus, it is not so easy to dodge this Fairy type move. So be wary if Slaking is using Play Rough.

While Slaking is constrained from breaking the meta due to Yawn, its ATK stat and bulk make it a very interesting collectible. As mentioned previously, doing Slaking raids can give you much-needed candies to power up your Vigoroth for the Great League. It is a top pick there and can bring you many wins if played right.

Stay safe, trainers!
