Super Mega Staraptor Raid Guide

Sprite of Mega Staraptor from Pokémon GO Mega Staraptor

Mega Staraptor is a Fighting and Flying type Super Mega Raid boss. Best Mega Staraptor raid counters include powerful Electric, Fairy, Flying, Ice, and Psychic types, with a mixed range of different counters available to help you defeat it.

The Mega Raid Boss is always catchable in its base form, so the CP ranges are for a regular Staraptor. Staraptor can be caught with the following CP values:

  • From 1538 CP to 1614 CP, with no weather boost
  • From 1922 CP to 2018 CP with Partly Cloudy and Windy weather boost

Super Mega Staraptor Raids require a minimum of 7 Trainers to defeat them, and each Trainer will need to have a Mega Pokémon in their team. This guide will tell you how to beat this long-legged Mega, as well as its optimal stats, moves, and CP range.

Mega Staraptor Counters Guide

Mega Staraptor is a Fighting and Flying type, which makes it weak to many popular Ice, Electric, Fairy, Flying and [gpsychic] Pokémon, which dominate the counters table.

For Mega Pokémon, we recommend the strongest one you have, but any Mega will suffice to break a Shield. Mega Mewtwo Y is great, as well as Mega Rayquaza.

Professor Willow icon Note on Primal Pokémon

Primal Pokémon cannot be used to break shields in Super Mega Raids, so we do not recommend using them as counters. This specifically means do not bring a Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre to these Raids.

Shiny Mega Staraptor

Like all Mega Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Staraptor from a Raid. The odds to get a shiny Staraptor are 1 in 10 Raids. Here are the sprites for normal Staraptor and Mega Staraptor.

About Super Mega Raids

super mega raid

During Super Mega Raids the Mega Pokémon can become enraged, and even use shields that dramatically reduce the amount of damage they take. You’ll have to work together to take down these shields, but each Trainer can only take down one shield.

  • Once the Mega Pokémon boss activates a shield, a Mega Pokémon from your Raid team will be automatically sent into the battle.
  • Your next attack by your Mega Pokémon will be significantly more powerful than usual, allowing you to break down the boss’s shield!

Once you and your fellow Trainers have broken enough shields, the Raid Boss will return to its normal state, and you will be able to do normal damage again.

All the best, Trainers!
