Enamorus Therian vs Incarnate in Pokémon GO: Who is better?

Love is in the air during Valentine’s Day, but when Pokémon GO players look around, they’ll find Gyms hosting Enamorus Therian in Raids!

The Legendary sister of the equally legendary Unovan Genie trio makes its long-awaited debut in the game, finally making all the Forces of Nature accessible to players.

And just like Enamorus’ bros, this also sparks an immediate comparison between its Therian and Incarnate Formes… which one is better in PvE and PvP?

It has to be the Therian Forme, right? Or will it be a Tornadus situation with the Incarnate taking the edge?

To find out, let’s go on a date with the Therian and Incarnate Formes of Enamorus, and find our perfect match!

Comparison of Stats & Moveset

While they are forms, both are different Pokémon after all. Let’s assess them!

With this sorted, now let’s get into a comparison between the two Enamorus in the PvE meta, including both the Fairy and Flying departments.

Enamorus Incarnate vs Therian: In the Fairy-type Meta

To establish an analysis of their display of power in the Fairy realm, let’s use our trusty GO Hub DPS TDO Comparer Tool:

best fairy types in pokemon go

  • Many of the top Fairy Pokémon pack a non-fairy Fast Move, but put on a strong performance in terms of damage output. In fact, the top Fairy type in the meta, Zacian Crowned, employs Metal Claw as its Fast Move but hits a brutal Play Rough.
  • Enamorus Incarnate wins the duel between its Formes, flexing a top-notch performance with high DPS, around 2% lower DPS than Shadow Gardevoir.
  • On the other hand, Enamorus Therian is way down the list, trailing behind Xerneas by an appreciable 11.63% in damage output.
  • Even if we stick to a complete Fairy-type moveset, the Gardevoirs take the lead while Enamorus Incarnate leads Therian by a whopping 25.55% in DPS. Even though Therian is bulkier, the superior performance of Incarnate makes it the go-to Fairy attacker between the two.
  • Enamorus Incarnate is solid, and with its resistance to Ground-type attacks, it does have an edge over the likes of Zacian Crowned and Mega Gardevoir when dealing with strong Dragon/Ground types like Mega Garchomp, and potential future Raid Bosses like Mega Zygarde.
  • Note that Enamorus has a signature Fairy move called Springtide Storm. Landorus Therian and Thundurus Therian achieved new heights with their respective Sandsear Strom and Wildbolt Storm additions, so with the eventual addition of this move, the now underwhelming Enamorus Therian is bound to improve.
  • That said, Tornadus Therian (with lower stats than its Incarnate Forme) didn’t make much of an improvement with the addition of Bleakwind Storm. So yes, expect an improvement for Enamorus Therian with Springtide Storm, but it probably won’t make waves in the meta.

Enamorus Incarnate vs Therian: In the Flying-type Meta

Dialling our GO Hub DPS TDO Comparer Tool again:

best flying types in pokemon go

  • The Flying meta is ruled by Dragons like Mega Rayquaza (and the base) plus Mega Salamence (and the Shadow).
  • A good number of attackers lack a Flying-type Fast Move, but sport high overall DPS. The Enamorus Formes come into consideration because Fairy Wind + Fly is particularly lethal against Fighting-type Raid Bosses.
  • Enamorus Incarnate is among the top attackers again, although it isn’t as impressive as its Fairy-type outing. Still, it’s quite good, rivalling Shadow Staraptor in DPS (a meager 0.16% higher damage output), but with better bulk.
  • Enamorus Therian is down the pecking order, rivalling Shadow Lugia in performance, but wth significantly lower bulk.
  • As a saving grace (if you will), Enamorus Therian is better than Bleakwind Storm Tornadus Therian, even without a Flying Fast Move! On the flip side, it also shows that Springtide Storm Enamorus Therian would be lacking severely. Yikes!

Enamorus Incarnate vs Therian: In the Master League Meta

  • Enamorus Incarnate, the harder-hitting form, is okayish in the Master League meta. It beats a few Dragon types like White Kyurem, Zygarde Complete, Palkia Origin, and even Eternatus. Additionally, it takes down Yveltal, Kyogre, and Groudon. Other Fairy types like Primarina, Zacian Crowned, and Xerneas do the job better. In fact, Togekiss (with the dame Fairy/Flying typing) is better, taking down even Reshiram, Florges, Landorus Therian, and Dialga Origin.
  • The extra bulk of Enamorus Therian with the stronger Fairy Charged Move in Moonblast makes it better than the Incarnate in (1-1), beating Florges and Reshiram, but losing Primarina.
  • With full shields up (2-2), Enamorus Therian is stronger, beating Eternatus, Primarina, and Xerneas (which Incarnate can’t) but losing Zekrom (which Incarnate beats). In fact, with Mystical Fire nerfing the opponent’s ATK, you also beat stalwarts like Togekiss, Dialga Origin, Zacian Hero, Florges, Mewtwo, Kyogre, and Primarina.
  • With no shields in play (0-0), Enamorus Therian is a straight upgrade, taking out Black Kyurem, Primarina, Togekiss, and Xerneas.
  • As such, Enamorus Therian is a deadly closer, so keep it reserved until the end of the battle. In this role, Enamorus Therian is even better than Togekiss!
  • Enamorus Therian is very good in the (1-1) shielded scenarios with Astonish, and for (2-2), Fairy Wind and Mystical Fire form a real headache to deal with for your opponents.
  • Overall, Enamorus Therian’s battle performance makes it one of the top Fairy Pokémon in the Master League, outshone by Zacian Crowned, and situationally by Xerneas, Togekiss, and Florges.

Is Enamorus Therian worth powering up

Yes, for the Master League. No, for Raids.

  • In PvE, Enamorus Therian is way behind Enamorus Incarnate in both the Fairy and Flying metas. So if you have resources for an Enamorus, just go with Incarnate.
  • Even the addition of its signature Springtide Storm theoretically won’t make any difference as such. But keep your fingers crossed!
  • In PvP, the Therian form is strong in the Master League, impressing with a superb performance that rivals the best Fairy types in the meta. However, you’re often better off using Togekiss as your Fairy/Flying type. Not only is Togekiss more unpredictable and flexible, it is also way cheaper to power up or max out, and is more accessible. So despite Enamorus Therian’s great outing, Togekiss holds its own.
  • Keep in mind that if you already have a powered-up Zacian Crowned or Xerneas, or have been tasting success with Togekiss or Florges, it’s not really a necessity to focus on Enamorus Therian.
  • While this is a repeated concept, it’s honestly better to use the Candy you earn from Therian for the Incarnate Forme. Do note that even in PvE, Enamorus Incarnate is surpassed by stronger Fairy and Flying types.

In a nutshell, Enamorus Incarnate seems to be the better date for PvE, but the Therian Forme deserves a meeting on this Valentine’s Day for sure, thanks to its PvP profile! Do drop her home (read Pokédex) though!

All the best, trainers!
