Dynamax Mesprit is one of the Lake Trio Legendary Pokémon that debuted on October 24, 2026, alongside Azelf and Uxie. All three debuted in their respective regions, with Mesprit appearing in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.
While Uxie is the tankier one and Azelf is the more offensive one, Mesprit stands somewhere in the middle as the most balanced of the three, with fairly decent ATK and DEF values of 212 each and a base Stamina value of 190. However, in a highly specialized mode like Max Battles, balanced stats alone are rarely enough. A Pokémon should ideally excel as either a tank or an attacker, and Mesprit’s stats do not help it stand out in either role.

Dynamax Mesprit lands at #11 in the current Psychic Max attacker comparison, with ten Pokémon ahead of it. Several have ATK values at least 20% higher, including Espeon, Latios, Alakazam, and its own sibling Azelf, whose ATK is about 26% higher under these assumptions. This means that if you are committed to making a Psychic attacker out of the Lake Trio, you would be better off choosing Azelf over Mesprit.
Already at #11, Mesprit is likely to slip further down the rankings as stronger options become available. It is projected to rank around #30 among Psychic Max attackers if the full roster becomes available. Given how much harder it is to obtain Mesprit Candy than Candy for alternatives like Alakazam or Metagross, you would be better off focusing your resources on building those as your damage dealers for this type.
The table below compares Mesprit’s rankings by damage taken against each incoming attack type. These rankings do not account for HP or Max Meter generation, and the full-roster rankings are projections.
At 212 DEF, Dynamax Mesprit is a decent tank on paper, ranking #11 against Fighting-type attacks and #17 against Psychic-type attacks by damage taken.
However, Mesprit shares the same pure Psychic typing as its sibling Uxie, which has a much higher DEF value of 270. Under equal conditions, this means Mesprit takes more damage from every incoming attack type. Like Uxie, it also lacks a 0.5-second Fast Attack, which further weakens its case as a tank.
| Incoming Attack Type | Current Max Roster | Full Roster (Projected) |
|---|---|---|
| Fighting | #11 | #86 |
| Psychic | #17 | #70 |
| Dragon | #34 | #172 |
| Rock | #37 | #173 |
| Ground | #38 | #222 |
| Electric | #42 | #244 |
| Normal | #42 | #238 |
| Water | #42 | #222 |
| Fairy | #43 | #171 |

| Poison | #46 | #256 |
| Ice | #47 | #207 |
| Fire | #48 | #224 |

| Bug | #95 | #565 |
| Ghost | #95 | #546 |
Being balanced may sound nice on paper, but Max Battles generally reward dedicated attackers and tanks, and Mesprit does not excel in either role.
Dynamax Mesprit, unfortunately, does not reach the top 10 in any of the attacker or damage-taken rankings shown here. As a Psychic attacker, it loses out to its attack-oriented sibling Azelf, while defensively, it takes more damage than Uxie from every attack type. As such, you can consider catching one for your collection, but if your resources are limited, investing in the Being of Emotion is unfortunately a hard skip.
