Dynamax Uxie is one of the Lake Trio Legendary Pokémon that debuted recently, alongside Azelf and Mesprit. It also marked the first time ever a Max Pokémon was region-locked, as Uxie will only be available in Asia-Pacific region.
Of the three, Uxie represents the tankier one with a massive DEF stat of 270, but with a relatively low HP value of 181 and really mediocre ATK stat of 156. Coupled with the fact that none of the Lake Trio has access to a 0.5s fast attack move, it really seems bleak for Uxie to be able to break into anything in the Max meta. Either way, let’s see if Uxie’s high DEF is enough to earn a spot on your Max team, or whether it is just a high number on a stat sheet.

At 156 ATK, Dynamax Uxie sits at #16 among current Psychic damage dealers, losing out even to its own sibling Mesprit, who is not supposed to be an attacker as its use lies in its high HP value, and dealing roughly 40% less damage than Azelf. The top five, led by Alakazam, all hit somewhere 60-67% harder than the Being of Knowledge itself. And obviously, if it is already performing this badly in the attacking front in the current meta, there is clearly nothing futureproof to Uxie in this area. You are just much better off using other Psychic damage dealers than getting Uxie as one.
The table below compares Uxie’s tanking ranks by damage taken against each incoming attack type. These are separate from Max Meter generation, and the full-roster rankings are projections.
At 270 DEF value, naturally this is Dynamax Uxie‘s territory… or rather, this should have been its territory.
In the current roster, Uxie breaks into top 10 tanks against Fighting and Psychic type thanks to its massive DEF value. However, its poor HP value pulls its overall tankiness down, as in the long run when all Pokémon makes their debut in Max Battles, Uxie will badly fall out of the lead, and rank at best #33 tank against Psychic. What makes matters worse for Uxie is that it is also missing a 0.5s Fast Attack. It means that Uxie can’t help charge the Max Meter up fast at all, which is arguably the most important trait that all good tanks in Max meta need to have to be useful.
| Incoming Attack Type | Current Max Roster | Full Roster (Projected) |

| Fighting | #7 | #47 |

Dynamax Uxie is the best tank of the Lake Trio, but it is simply just a title on paper. Sure, it breaks into top 10 tanks against Psychic and Fighting-type attacks in the current meta; but its low HP and lack of 0.5s fast attack severely pulls it down from being a decent, usable tank in your Max Battles team.
The farming value for Uxie this weekend is arguably only to farm for stardust, and farm for a shiny if you are lucky. Otherwise, if you care less about either of this, sadly it might be much more worth it to go for its siblings, i.e. Azelf and Mesprit.
