Gen IV is live: first wave of Pokemon released

Dear Trainers, the moment we’ve all been waiting for has happened: Gen IV is live.

It all started with a Google Play store banner this morning, followed by glitch spawn behavior, only to finish with a rather substantial background download on Android: the Gen IV stats were being added.  Now, an hour after this weird phenomena was observed, Gen IV has been released – in waves!

The following Pokemon have been confirmed as the first wave:

Generation IV frequently asked questions:

  • Evolution methods are unchanged – Pokemon like Magmortar, Mamoswine, Electivire and other are not yet available
  • Move pool changes for Generation 1 Pokemon are not observed yet. We’re still waiting to see what’s going on with that.
  • Stat rebalance is also not activated yet. Likely will be throughout the day.

A few updates from the GO Hub team:

  • We’re no longer accepting writer applications. We have 95+ application to work through and we’ll distribute the invitations soon.
  • As far as our coverage goes, we’re updating the Database website and a massive number of articles on the Hub. Be prepared for a flurry of tweets over the next few days
  • We will try to be on top of everything, but if you know something we don’t, let us know
  • Magnezone and Electivire can learn Wild Charge – how wild is that?!
