Trainers! New connectivity with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet means Roaming Form Gimmighoul and Gholdengo from the Paldea region are now available in Pokémon GO!
Send Postcards from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet for opportunities to encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul and collect Gimmighoul Coins in Pokémon GO. Sending Postcards will also affect your Paldean adventure—in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, the patterns of Vivillon that live in the Paldea region will change based on the location listed on the Postcard.
How to get Gimmighoul
By sending a Postcard to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, you will be able to use the Coin Bag in Pokémon GO. When you use the Coin Bag, Roaming Form Gimmighoul will appear near you for a certain period of time!
It seems that Gimmighoul love and are lured in by the bag’s treasure chest–like appearance and the sound of coins jingling within. Professor Willow noticed that Roaming Form Gimmighoul wanders around more to return to treasure chests than to collect coins, so he developed the Coin Bag and entrusted it to you.
You can use it the Coin Bag once per day by sending a Postcard.
- You will be able to send Postcards by pairing Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet with Pokémon GO.
- You can send a Postcard only once per day. Your ability to send a Postcard resets at midnight.
- The first time you send a Postcard, you will receive the Coin Bag and be able to use it.
- Once you send a Postcard, you will be able to use the Coin Bag again.
- The Postcards you send will remain in your Postcard Book, but each Postcard can only be sent once.
- To connect your Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game to Pokémon GO you need Pokémon GO and your Nintendo Switch game open
- Go to the mystery gift option in the PokePortal (check you are on update 1.2) and there will be a Pokémon GO option
- Click ‘connect to Pokémon GO account’ and on Pokémon GO under settings select Nintendo Switch, and ‘connect to Nintendo Switch’
- they should both search and find your account and connect
- Go to your items in Pokémon GO, open your postcard book, pick a postcard and click ‘send to Nintendo Switch’
- On your Switch, click ‘Connect to Pokémon GO’ and the two devices will pair again
- it will then send to your Switch, and in return you get the Coin Bag in Pokémon GO
- You can then use the Coin Bag to get Gimmighoul to spawn in GO, and in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet the new Vivillon pattern will spawn in Vivillon habitats
