The details of the next Wayfarer Challenge have been announced! The Niantic Wayfarer team has announced that the next challenge will start in Japan, before flying over to the USA, then off to Germany, before travelling back to Japan to finish the challenge. They have also announced, fresh off the heels of edits being added to the contribution page, that edits will play a large part in the challenge!

What is Niantic Wayfarer?
Firstly, Niantic Wayfarer enables high-level Pokémon GO and Ingress players to nominate new ‘Wayspots’, known as PokéStops or Portals, in their respective games. Other high-level players can then review these Wayspots, and if they fit the criteria they are added to the Niantic Lightship map, and then if they fall within the inclusion rules of Pokémon GO, Ingress, or other Niantic games they are added to that gameboard.
Niantic Wayfarer Challenges encourage players from around the globe to log in and do reviews of the nominations from host countries to strengthen the in-game experiences of those communities. The challenges run over one to two weeks and set a target goal of resolved Wayspots nominations. They reward participating trainers with items in-game depending on how many Wayspots nominations are successfully resolved, both individually and collectively, during the challenge period.
Niantic Wayfarer makes new challenges every few months, and this May Japan, the US, and Germany are in the spotlight with the focus on resolving as many edits and wayspot nominations as possible in those countries

Wayspot Resolution Goals and Rewards
Reward Eligibility Requirements
- Level 37+ in Pokémon GO to receive the Pokémon GO rewards
- Level 10+ in Ingress to receive the Ingress rewards
- You must have reviewed at least 50 Wayspot nominations from the challenge countries during the challenge dates
- You must also have completed the Wayfarer Onboarding
NOTE: Only 1 set of Rewards will be distributed, so if we reach the 10k tier only the rewards from that tier will be awarded.

Getting Started With Wayfarer
If you are eligible but have not used Wayfarer before, you can get ready by creating a Wayfarer account linked to your Pokémon GO or Ingress profiles.
