Mewtwo Returns at GO Fest 2026, Tokyo Venue Confirmed at Press Conference

Tokyo Bay’s Odaiba waterfront parks officially announced, global challenges returning, and the devs hint at “heart-pounding excitement” tied to Mewtwo.

A special GO Fest 2026 press conference in Tokyo has just given us our first official look at the GO Fest 2026 Tokyo key art!  While full event details are still expected in early March (and things may change before then), we now have confirmed venue information, session times, and a very exciting teaser involving Mewtwo, one of the most iconic Pokémon in GO Fest history.

Confirmed Tokyo Bay Venue!

GO Fest 2026 Tokyo will take place across four connected areas in Tokyo’s waterfront district:

  • Odaiba Seaside Park (Minato Ward)
  • Symbol Promenade Park (Koto Ward)
  • Shiokaze Park (Shinagawa Ward)

The parks sit next to one another in the Odaiba bay area, creating one large, walkable festival zone. Just like previous GO Fests, gameplay will span the full connected venue rather than locking Trainers into a single section.

Park Session Hours

Main park sessions will run in two daily time slots:

  • 🌅 Morning Session: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • 🌇 Afternoon Session: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

There is a two-hour transition period between sessions. Trainers will choose one session on one of the four event days.

⚠️ Note: As stated during the press event, details may still change before the full March announcement.

Mewtwo, Special Pokémon and Global Challenges

During the conference, organizers confirmed that:

  • Each host city will feature exclusive Pokémon encounters not normally available.
  • Global Challenges will return, allowing Trainers worldwide to work together across all event cities.

This suggests a large-scale coordinated gameplay element, likely similar to previous GO Fest bonus unlock systems, will take place. Judging by the key art and general event colors on Niantic’s website, we can guess that Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will be featured in different GO Fest events:

  • Tokyo will feature Articuno
  • Chicago will feature Zapdos
  • Copenhagen will feature Moltres

Mewtwo will definitely be part of every GO Fest event, especially given that a Staff Member in Tokyo shared this:

“I can’t say anything specific, but look forward to the Pokémon featured in the key art. Especially Mewtwo… I think it’ll be heart-pounding excitement for people who’ve been participating in GO Fest since the early days.”

Given Mewtwo’s legendary status in Pokémon GO, and its role in early Pokémon GO events, such as GO Stadium, this could hint at:

  • A special form appearance
  • A themed raid experience
  • A throwback to early GO Fest moments
  • Or something entirely new

Nothing is confirmed yet, but the wording strongly suggests something significant will be taking place.
