Niantic shared the following on X on August 13, 2025 as an update for compensation:
Trainers affected by the incorrect appearance rate for Shiny Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia in Raid Battles during the Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day will receive Timed Research in the coming weeks.
The Timed Research will include encounters with Shiny Origin Forme Dialga and/or Shiny Origin Forme Palkia based on the number of Raid Battles completed. We apologize for the issue and will share more information soon.
Niantic Support has confirmed it will offer compensation to players affected by a bug during the recent Origin Raid Day: Dialga and Palkia event. The raids were advertised as having boosted shiny odds for Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia, but players in Japan discovered the rates were unchanged.
Crowdsourced data quickly backed up their findings, showing no increase in shiny encounter chances. Origin Dialga odds were reported around 3.5%, which is close to their usual rate.
Adding to the confusion, the in-game event panel in Japan made no mention of a shiny rate boost, reinforcing suspicions that the bonus had never been active. Niantic acknowledged the error shortly after reports spread and confirmed that compensation will be issued to affected Trainers:
A Niantic Helpshift article has been created as well, but no additional details have been added. The community’s sentiment is as bad as it can be, given how often issues like this have been happening.
