Trainers, Pokémon GO City Safari: Boston has been postponed due to the incoming storm. The Pokémon GO team confirmed the decision in an official update after monitoring weather forecasts for the Boston metropolitan area.
The event was originally scheduled for September 26 and 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time each day. Trainers were set to explore the city, take part in a GO Stamp Rally, and encounter Pokémon including Mudbray and Eevee wearing an explorer hat.
What happens to existing tickets?
Ticket sales are now closed. A new event date has not been announced, and the team says details about the rescheduled event and options for existing ticket holders will be shared as soon as possible.
The announcement does not yet explain whether refunds will be offered or how tickets and add-ons will be handled. If you already have a ticket, keep an eye on the official channels for those details.
Nor’easter problems
The Guardian reports that a weekend nor’easter could bring strong winds and coastal flooding to parts of New England, including the Boston area. If you are confused as we were, a “nor’easter is a large, powerful storm that forms along the East Coast of North America, named for the strong winds that blow from the northeast over the coastal area”. The devs cited the storm’s expected severity as the reason for moving the event.
For Trainers who have already arranged travel and accommodation, this is understandably disappointing news.
