Pokémon TCG Pocket Announces Slower Pack Releases, New Cards, and Battle Features

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket team has revealed its plans for the game’s next series, launching at the end of October 2026. The update will introduce major changes to how often booster packs are released, new ways to collect cards, and several improvements to battling and trading.

Dual-type Pokémon will also make their debut in the new series, bringing new possibilities to the game’s battle system.

Here’s everything that’s coming!

Booster Packs Will Release Every Six Weeks

One of the biggest changes is a slower booster pack release schedule.

Currently, Pokémon TCG Pocket releases new booster packs approximately every four weeks. The developers acknowledged that the large number of cards released with each pack, up to and including the B Series, has made collecting difficult for many players.

Starting with the new series, booster packs will release approximately every six weeks instead of four.

To fill the additional time between releases, the team plans to expand events, missions, and other activities related to collecting and battling.

Here's an overview and visual look at the events being changed or added starting from C Series!

New Ways to Collect Cards

Immersive Cards as Mission Rewards

Immersive Cards will no longer be obtainable exclusively through booster packs.

The new series will introduce missions that reward players with different Immersive Cards for completing collections, providing another way to obtain these special cards.

Special Pack: First Partners

A new type of booster pack called Special Pack: First Partners is coming.

These packs will feature special cards depicting the first partner Pokémon from all nine regions featured in the mainline Pokémon games.

Unlike regular booster packs, Special Packs will use a separate stamina system that recovers once per week.

★1 Promo Cards

New event missions will allow players to earn ★1 Promo Cards featuring distinctive illustrations with a shared theme.

These missions will be introduced every three weeks, with each set allowing players to earn one of three different illustrated Promo Cards.

Major Battle Improvements

Community Decks

A new Community Decks feature will allow players to discover and copy decks created by other players directly in the game.

Players will be able to browse popular decks and decks created by friends, then use cards from their own collections to recreate them.

This should make finding and building competitive decks much easier, especially for newer players.

Unlimited Rental Decks

Rental Decks are also receiving a major overhaul.

Beginning with the new series, Rental Decks will:

  • Become available immediately when new booster packs are released.
  • Have unlimited uses, removing the current usage restrictions.
  • Be usable in versus battles.

These changes should make it easier to experiment with new cards and decks without needing to collect every card first.

Limited Battle Events

New limited-time battle events will take place after booster pack releases.

These events will feature special rules restricting which cards players can use, encouraging different deck-building strategies.

Players will be able to earn rewards based on their number of wins, including battle accessories, Promo Packs, and more.

Trading and Sharing Improvements

The developers are also working on improvements to trading and sharing.

Two features specifically mentioned are:

  • Improved trading information: Players will be able to see cards of any rarity that are missing from their trading partner’s Card Dex while trading.
  • Wishlist indicators: Cards included on a sharing partner’s wishlist will be clearly identified.

Both changes should make it easier to find cards that other players actually need.

More Updates Are Planned

The Pokémon TCG Pocket team confirmed that additional features and improvements are being developed for the new series, beyond those outlined in this announcement.

The new series is scheduled to begin at the end of October 2026, with further updates planned alongside subsequent booster pack releases.

The developers also stressed that these features are still under development, and their content and release timing are subject to change.

With booster pack releases slowing down, more ways to earn cards, and significant improvements to battling, the new series looks set to change how players collect and play Pokémon TCG Pocket.
