Trainers, this is a massive update so take your time to ingest all of it. First, Regirock, Regice and Registeel are returning to Pokémon GO – for a brief time!
From November 1 to November 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in your local time zone, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel will be available in raids to accompany the “A Colossal Discovery” Special Research Event. In order to spice things up, Niantic is also releasing Shiny Regirock, Shiny Regice, Shiny Registeel and Shiny Skarmory during this event.
As mentioned above, a new Special Research Event is coming! A Colossal Discovery is a ticketed event that takes place on November 2, 2019 and introduces Regigigas into Pokémon GO. Players who chose to purchase a ticket (USD $7.99) for “A Colossal Discovery” will have a chance to encounter Regigigas and collect exclusive rewards from the quest line. The rewards include Regigigas, an exclusive medal and Avatar Pose, x1 Unova Stone and x1 Sinnoh Stone.
Luckily, it is not the only way you will be able to encounter Regigigas! Regigigas will be appearing in EX raids starting in November, replacing Mewtwo as a raid boss in EX raids. Yes, “A Colossal Discovery” is not mandatory, but it does allow players to encounter Regigigas before it appears in EX raids.

The Regis returning is a short event that serves as a tie-in for the release of Regigigas and is required for the “A Colossal Discovery” questline. We are not sure what Niantic plans to do with Regis after the event ends, but we don’t think they will be returning as raid bosses soon. The event is a perfect opportunity to shiny hunt, as all featured Pokémon can be shiny. The following Pokémon are getting their Shiny Forms:

Ticketed Event: “A Colossal Discovery”
In addition to Regi Trio’s return, on November 2, 2019 you will have the chance to encounter a Regigigas in a first Pokémon GO Special Research Event. The Event requires a ticket that costs USD $7.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency) and requires a group to complete. The majority of the quest line features various raid encounters, including the requirement to defeat and catch Regice, Regirock and Registeel.
We described the event in details in our A Colossal Discovery guide, which we recommend you read in details if you plan to participate. The event comes with a handful of exclusive rewards and gives you a chance to catch a guaranteed Regigigas before it starts appearing in EX Raids.
If you choose to participate, make sure you complete the quest line before November 4 (1:00 p.m. PDT), as the Regi Trio will disappear from Tier 5 raids after.
