Pokémon GO Championship Series 2023 has officially started, and Pokémon GO Trainers can compete once again to earn entry to the 2023 Pokémon World Championship Tournament.
Similar to previous year’s GO Championship, the best players throughout the season can earn invitations to the Pokémon World Championships.
Pokémon GO Championship Series 2023 Rules
Pokémon GO events in the 2023 season operate using a single age division. Players must be of or above the age of digital consent in their home market in order to participate in Pokémon GO Championship Series events.
The format for the 2023 season Pokémon GO Championship Series will be Great League.
Registration for these events is handled by the Tournament Organizer, an entry fee may be charged at their discretion, and events may sell out.
- Pokémon GO events will use the Great League format.
- Pokémon GO players must have a legal Pokémon team on their GO account.
- In order to participate, players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account; be in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program; and comply with current COVID-19 requirements for large Pokémon events.
Pokémon GO Championship Events
Trainers can compete in Regional, International and Special Championship Events.
- Regional Championships events take place all around the world. After the Pokémon International Championships, the Pokémon Regional Championships are the largest events in terms of both attendance and prize money.
- The International Championships draw Pokémon GO players from all around the globe during the Championship Series season. These amazing events feature more Worlds invitations and a larger prize pool.
- In addition to the regular events in the Championship Series schedule, Pokémon Special Events give players more chances to earn Worlds invites.
Top Pokémon GO players at these events will win an invitation to compete at the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, but all fans are welcome to come witness the excitement of the most prestigious event in the Pokémon Championship Series.
The top-performing players will even earn a Travel Award to Worlds! Worlds invites will be distributed at each qualifier as follows.

Travel Award
A prize earned during a player’s participation in the Championship Series season that completely covers the costs of that player’s travel arrangements to a specific subsequent event.

2023 Pokémon World Championship
The Pokémon World Championships are the pinnacle of competitive Pokémon play. Typically occurring in August of each year, the Pokémon World Championships feature the best Pokémon players from around the globe.
Players will compete for over a half-million dollars in prizes, the title of Pokémon World Champion, and return invitations for the following year’s Worlds.
Worlds will return to being a three-day event for 2023. Players who qualify for the first day will begin play on Friday. The 2023 World Championships will take place in Yokohama, Japan.
