Pokémon Sleep: New Moon Day (March 2026)

The New Moon Day event is back for March in Pokémon Sleep. This is the eleventh New Moon Day event, and the third of 2026! This event is held once a month for a total of three days—on the day of the new moon and the days before and after it. This event will have special appearance rates and it will be harder for Pokémon to become full.

Every time you encounter a Pokémon with a special appearance rate during your New Moon Day sleep research, its friendship points will increase by 3 even if you don’t give it Poké Biscuits.

Featured Pokémon

The following Pokémon are more likely to appear during this event on all days of the event:

Special Appearance Rate

  • Darkrai

Darkrai

A special appearance rate is a bonus that gives you an opportunity to encounter Pokémon you normally wouldn’t meet.

During the New Moon Day event, you’ll be able to encounter Darkrai in all areas, regardless of your sleep type.

Darkrai will sometimes appear during the first sleep research of the day, but will never appear during the second sleep research of the day.

Additionally, each time you don’t encounter Darkrai during sleep research, your chances of encountering Darkrai during New Moon Day sleep research will increase a little.

Notes on the Event

  • Each day of the New Moon Day event rolls over at 4:00 a.m.
  • After the event ends, you’ll no longer be able to encounter Darkrai in any area.
  • Event bonuses apply only to sleep data tracked during the event.
  • If you wait to report sleep data tracked before the event began and select “Review Later” during the event, event bonuses will not be applied.
  • If you wait to report sleep data tracked during the event and select “Review Later” after the event has ended, event bonuses will be applied.
  • Event bonuses do not apply to sleep tracking during the tutorial.
  • Event bonuses will trigger regardless of which site you conduct your sleep research in.
  • If overlapping events trigger more than one of the same type of bonus, the larger bonus will be applied.
  • If there are multiple bonuses from different events that increase your chance to encounter Shiny Pokémon and apply to the same Pokémon, the bonus with the largest effect will be applied.
  • Normally, if you conduct sleep research twice in one day and research at least 11 Pokémon in a single day, the research rewards for the eleventh and any subsequent Pokémon will be less. However, if you encounter a Pokémon with a special appearance rate, the research rewards will be less starting with the twelfth—and any subsequent—Pokémon.
