New Pokémon TCG Pocket Expansion Announced: Crimson Blaze!

After the advent of the B1 expansion of Pokémon TCG Pocket, the Mega Rising set, which debuted Mega Evolutions in the meta, it’s time for the B1a set: Crimson Blaze. Headlined by Mega Charizard Y EX, as well as Mega Venusaur EX and Mega Blastoise EX, this set promises to be a rage!

Let’s dive into all the ‘mega’ details.

Crimson Blaze Trailer

An official trailer for Crimson Blaze has been released, revealing some cards from the new set! The Mega Evolutions of the Kanto starters (except Mega Charizard X) are the main cards of this booster pack, featuring on the artwork and as EX cards.

Crimson Blaze Information

The Crimson Blaze set will be released on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and is the B1a set.

The Mega Evolutions of the Kanto starter trio headline this mini expansion, with Mega Charizard X possibly being kept for a future set.

Here are all the Pokémon cards revealed:

There are also a few Trainer cards shown:

  • Clemont Supporter: Put 2 random cards from among Magneton, Heliolisk, and Clemont’s Backpack from your deck into your hand.
  • Serens Supporter: Put a random Mega Evolution Pokémon EX from your deck into your hand.
  • Quick-Grow Extract Item: Choose one of your Grass type icon Pokémon in play. Put a random Grass type icon Pokémon from your deck that evolves from that Pokémon onto that Pokémon to evolve it. You can’t use this card during your first turn or on a Pokémon that was put into play this turn.

Remember that Mega Evolutions function differently from other cards (including EX) in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and reflect the new rules set by the Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets in the physical TCG:

  • Knocking out a Mega Evolution card rewards you with 3 points, granting you an instant win in TCG Pocket.
  • Megas are Basic, Stage 1, and Stage 2 cards, and the latter two can be evolved directly from their respective Basic card or Stage 1 card.

To elaborate further on this:

  • Mega Charizard Y can be directly evolved from Charmander.
  • Mega Gyarados can be directly evolved from Magikarp.
  • Mega Absol is a Basic card, hence not requiring evolution at all.

Serena and the Quick-Grow Extract already look strong, and with more cards yet to be revealed, we wait with bated breath for the 17th of December!

Mega Evolutions from the Mega Rising set have already set the tone for a new and aggressive meta in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and with the Crimson Blaze set adding more Megas to the roster, players are in for a wild ride, and collectors have more amazing cards to grab!
