To test your mettle in battle with the new additions, you can use your decks to take on other players in Versus battles to earn special Emblems based on the number of wins. Note that the gold medal will be obtained after 9 wins, a welcome departure from the tedious 45-win trait of older sets.

Emblem events let you grab Emblems by winning online battles against players in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Emblems can be set on your player profile.
There are also missions where you can obtain Shinedust and other items by winning Versus battles.
