Shiny Sandygast and Palossand

If you’re lucky, you may encounter shiny Sandygast and evolve it into shiny Palossand!

  • Sandygast is a Pokémon formed from sand. It is mostly a mound of dark grey sand dotted with blue pebbles. A tunnel through its center acts as a mouth, and a small depression above that has two pebbles for eyes. A yellow shovel with a white handle is stuck blade first into the top of its head. On either side of its main body is a smaller mound reminiscent of a stubby arm.
  • Palossand is a Pokémon resembling a black sand castle with blue pebbles along the base. It has a square main castle for its body, two round towers for arms, and the top of another round tower with a conical point rising up from the body. A tunnel through the center of the main body creates a mouth. There is a line of five alternating baby blue and pink seashells over the top of its mouth, and a similar ring of seashells surrounds the central tower just below the point. The central tower has six windows: three located in the front, one on each side, and one in the back. The two outermost windows in front of the central tower have tiny pebbles in them and appear to act as eyes. The two side towers have crenellations along the top with a ring of windows underneath. Palossand's main body has crenellations around the central tower. In the peak of its tower is a yellow shovel stuck handle-first into the top.

Mega Pokémon that boost Sandygast

Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Pokémon caught. Here’s everything you need to know! If you want further information about Spotlight Hours, check out our comprehensive guide.

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Sandygast if they are Mega-evolved.

Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy are granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it worth evolving Sandygast?

PVE

⚔️ Raids

Palossand is really not a great attacker, no matter how you twist it. Both as a Ground and Ghost-type attacker, it falls in the bottom portion of the Tier List, overshadowed by more than 50 other Pokémon. But it has an insanely cool shiny!

🛡️ Gyms

solid, well-rounded Gym defender. Do leave your scary castles as Gym defenders.

PVP

Palossand is a really, really strange Pokémon for PvP. Usually, it performs best in the Ultra League, with disastrous performance in Great League and Master League.

🔵 Great League

Really doesn’t perform well.

🟡 Ultra League

In Ultra League, you want to run with Astonish, Scorching Sand, and Shadow Ball. It’s bulky, can provide a lot of pressure with Astonish, and a solid nuke with Shadow Ball. Its biggest opponents are Talonflame and Giratina, which are bound to be encountered.

🟣 Master League

Too many Legendaries and pseudo-Legendaries who are better than Palossand.
