The Equinox event comes right after the upcoming weekend featuring Rayquaza raids and just in time to celebrate the March’s equinox phenomena (yes, March’s, there are two in a year!). For those who don’t know it, an equinox is the moment at which the center of the visible Sun is directly above the Equator. It happens twice a year, on March 20th and on September 23rd and Pokémon GO celebrates it accordingly!

Niantic is following up on the trend of permanently adding new moves during events as Power-Up Punch was added during Pokémon GO Battle Showdown 2019. Both new moves seem to be part of the 18 moves that were silently slipped into the game five months ago, confirming our theory that Niantic is not yet happy with move variety in Pokémon GO.

The following Pokémon will permanently get access to Acid Spray Poison:

Arbok Victreebel Tentacruel
Muk Muk (Alola) Quagsire
Qwilfish Octillery Swalot

The following Pokemon will permanently get access to Leaf Tornado Grass:

Victreebel Shiftry

It remains to be seen how much each Pokémon will benefit from the new moves. Stay tuned for our moves analysis and be on the lookout for potential new shinies! It’s kinda strange that there aren’t any XP, candy or Stardust bonuses, which makes us think that Niantic could have something different in store.
