Nine species no longer hatch from Eggs, Hyper Rare tier introduced!

Posted in

Trainers,

the Silph Road published a research study today, highlighting recent egg changes. In total, nine Pokemon species no longer hatch from eggs, while a new rarity tier was discovered: hyper rare egg hatches.

The following species no longer hatch from eggs:

  • Bulbasaur
  • Charmander
  • Squirtle
  • Staryu
  • Ekans
  • Goldeen
  • Magnemite
  • Vulpix
  • Yanma

We are happy to see that Niantic has re-balanced the egg hatch pool, as a number of these Pokemon have no future use or potential. We are a bit sad to see Magmenite and Yanma go, mostly due to their future Gen IV evolutions.

In addition to removing the above mentioned species, Niantic has introduced a new rarity tier for eggs, titled Hyper Rare, which indicates species which are incredibly difficult to hatch. The Pokemon in this rarity tier are as follows:

Hyper Rare Egg Hatches
Wobbuffet Girafarig Dunsparce Shuckle

We are quite sure that Reversal will be super excited to see Girafarig in a new, almost impossible to hatch, rarity tier.

Thirteen species addition confirmed

As we’ve already reported on the Hub, thirteen species were added (and a few were shuffled around) during the Anniversary event, so we’re not covering that part in this post.

For full information on which species were added at that point, check out our previous post: Eggs have changed again: multiple species added (includes Gen II starters), published on July 8, 2017.

Egg chart update

All of the changes above have been reflected in our Egg Chart, which now correctly shows all of the new hatches and rarity tiers. Also, there were many UI updates, so check it out 🙂
