Every Czech Pokémon Go trainer was really looking forward to this event after postponing the August Safari Zone. That’s why all tickets were gone after 1 minute and 28 seconds.

I woke up at 7 am and there were already rare spawns in the city center. The event was held at Shopping Mall Černý Most (part of Unibail-Rodamco line of shopping malls).

Outside the mall

The official start of the event was at 10am, but the registration started already at 8 am, it went really quickly, as they just checked your ID, scanned QR code and gave you Trainer’s Kit containing your team sticker, Pikachu paper hat, Safari Poster and another QR code.

After scanning your QR code at a special Pokéstop, new Safari Pokéstops popped up and they started to spawn tons of GEN I and GEN II starters including 2nd and 3rd evolutions:

  • Eevee,
  • Miltank,
  • Skarmory,
  • Porygon,
  • Clefairy,
  • Pikachu (including shiny),
  • Magikarp (including shiny),
  • Machop,
  • Mareep,
  • Chansey,
  • Unown (SAFARI letters),
  • Larvitar and
  • representing the land down under, the Australian regional Pokémon… Kan-gas-khan! (best read in announcer voice)

They also dropped special 2K eggs like at previous Safari Events. However there were less Pokéstops (25 in total) then in Germany for example, which caused that some trainer didn’t have enough Pokéballs.

The mall was quite crowded and some people had problems with GPS, so we decided to walk on the rooftop parking lot, which was a good idea.

Crowded mall!

We already knew what to expect from this event, but after 10am, a legendary egg appeared at a nearby gym, everyone was expecting Suicune, but then Lugia appeared, so hundreds of people used this opportunity to fight and catch Lugia one more time!

The whole Lugia situation was odd and fun and the same time, because people didn’t know if it’s another Niantic bug or if it’s a special surprise for us. I think people appreciated it as it was a nice distraction.

Nearby Raid in the streets

There was also a “lottery contest” where you could win Pikachu Hat, Pikachu Powerbank and Nintendo Switch. I managed to win a Pikachu Powerbank 🙂

I’d like to thank Niantic, GO Hub and shout out to our great Pokémon Go Brno Community.

We are already looking forward to another special event like this.

I Participated In 2 Lugia Raids There. I Caught One (89%), And The Second One Was 100% And (Of Course) Promptly Ran. Still A Good Day Though

Hi pavel did people without a ticket see the extra pokestops?and could they catch the shiny pokemon?

    • tester

no, you were only able to see the special pokestops, but you couldnt spin them. and you were not able to see any pokestops inside of the mall. even the spawns were different, so you couldnt catch the shiny etc….

    • red21duck

No, there were only about 5 pokestops and spawns were venonat, paras and other garbage. They probably did this bc they didn’t want to make the mall crowded with hundreds of ppl without registration. Which was good. But, if u just were in Prague, in whole city was this rare spawn like chanseys, mareeps, pikachus, so the best was being at the centre of Prague. 😉
      Anyways, the event was awesome

    • Zsófia Flóra Asztalos

no, without the ticket you can’t see these mall stops and you can’t get the special 2kms and the Safari medal.
but there are the same rare pokemons spawn in the whole city, like in the mall and also more chance for shinys.
I was in Prague, I managed to get more than 25 chansey, circa 17 larvitars, a lot of other rare spawns and also a shiny magikarp (: in the first our in a 12person group 5 people got a shiny.

      • Saskia van den Berg

Wow that is amazing so many chancy and a shiny ! I captured like 2000 magicarp and have olny1 shiny jet hopefully i will find anotherone next saturday.
I now will surely go and see how things turn out thanks for your info!

    • There were increase spawns all around Prague on that day, so the best solution was to go to the city centre, set the lures and catch pokemon there

      • Saskia van den Berg

Thank you jana hopfully it will be the same in amstelveen next saturday.

  • David Verhaeghe

can people without ticket join the raids because i’m going to amstelveen with friends that does’nt have tickets.

    • tester

there were no raids. and without ticket its without pokestops and rare spawns

      • David Verhaeghe

        And lugia then?

        • tester

that was outside of the mall, literaly the nearest gym from there

    • Spetsen

Raids are open to the public and happen around the town, not in the mall where the event is. I saw a Moltres raid in Copenhagen and also heard about an Articuno raid, so it seems like the legendary birds are back for one day during Safari Zone. Of course, I stayed in the mall the entire day, so no raids for me.

    • Charter

They switched of the bird raids after a few hours so I guess it was a mistake releasing the birds and that there will be no such raids in Amstelveen and Stockholm.

  • Heydavid17

It was pretty much the same, we saw a Articuno at a raid at some point here in Copenhagen, but people didn’t really care about raiding.
However, I was very annoyed and disappointed with the event here in Denmark.
Cool stuff with the spawns, but it was impossible to keep up, since there weren’t enough pokestops.
Our mall was way too greedy as well, when it came to competitions and special prices, and mostly the fact that I was a volunteer during our event, but was not given anything in return.

    • awlagfare

I was a volunteer during our event, but was not given anything in return
isn’t that the definition of a volunteer?

      • Heydavid17

        No, it really ain’t.
Normally, you volunteer to do work for free without being paid, but in return it’s normal to at least be given something, which others can’t obtain.
If not, then at least some food or something to drink, especially when it was work for more than 12 hours.
I’ve even agreed to appear on some TV shows and interviews, and even there they give you free food in return.

  • coopuser4life

When are we gonna get more events here in the U.S especially New York its long overdue

  • pransis

I hope they organize a Safari zone event here in the Philippines.

  • Higher_Ground

I don’t see why they don’t put Tauros in the Safari Zone events with Kangaskhan. Both of them were only catchable in the Safari Zone in R/B/Y… why only one for the event? Just to keep people from filling their pokedex?

I mean it’s an ever expanding goal but at least make it obtainable in the short term for people without making them fly around the globe.
