Mega Rayquaza will be featured in a makeup event globally as a fix for the errors joining the raids experienced in its Elite Raid event on June 29th.

Trainers, due to issues affecting Elite Raids featuring Mega Rayquaza, a special global makeup event will be held for all Trainers on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm local time. More details to be shared on the blog soon.
We do not currently have information on the event features and availability of timed research. However, from the 1pm and 6pm times stated, it seems likely that these will be held as Elite Raids rather than regular Mega Raids.

What happened on June 29th?
June 29th was the Mega Rayquaza Elite Raid event. However, the Elite Raid eggs did not appear on eligible gyms 24 hours before the raid begins. This is a huge issue for lots of trainers as communities often look for these eggs the day before to plan their raid day route.
Niantic Help later announced on Twitter/X that the eggs would be appearing at 6am local time.
Trainers, Mega Rayquaza Elite Raid Eggs for the 12pm, 1pm, 5pm and 6pm raids will appear at eligible Gyms at 6:00 AM local time on Saturday, June 29.
However, when the eggs did show up they were on a very limited number of gyms. In some towns/cities it made planning a viable route for this Elite Raid day very tricky. Niantic acknowledged this and said they had plans to make good.
Trainers, we have resolved an issue limiting the availability of Mega Rayquaza Elite Raids. We are planning a make good for affected Trainers and will share more details as they become available.
