Trainers, we are happy to announce that Shadow Ball Mewtwo will be once again obtainable in Pokémon GO! Starting on September 25 or 26, 2019 (according to your time zone) Trainers who receive EX Raid Passes will encounter Mewtwo in EX Raids. Mewtwo caught in an EX Raid will know Shadow Ball! The Pokémon Company International have followed up from Niantic’s posting about Mewtwo as the next EX Raid Boss from Oct 5th and have confirmed that M2 will only be an EX Raid Boss until November 12th 2019. Unclear what will replace M2 after this timeframe.

EX Raid Pass Distribution
EX Raid Passes are handed out on a weekly schedule, at around 11am PT. You will get a detailed in-game notification which shows the date, time-window, and location of the EX Raid. You will also be provided with directions to the EX Raid Gym. You can review your EX Raid Pass at any time in your Item Bag, and you can carry multiple EX Raid Passes.
Inviting a Friend
If you received an EX Raid Pass, you get the option to invite a Friend. You can only invite 1 Friend, and you have to be Ultra Friends with that Trainer.
- You can be invited if you already have an EX Raid Pass, but not if the EX Raid is on the same date and time-window
- You can decline an EX Raid Pass, but the Trainer who invited you will NOT be able to invite somebody else

- Starting on September 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. PDT—Trainers can receive EX Raid Passes to be invited to EX Raids featuring Mewtwo.

Are you new to EX Raids? You can become eligible to receive an EX Raid Pass when you win a Raid Battle at a qualifying Gym! To see whether a Gym can host EX Raids, take a look at the Gym’s details. If you triumph in a qualifying Raid Battle and receive an invitation to an EX Raid, you can check your EX Raid Pass for the date and time when you’ll be able to challenge Mewtwo.
Battling Mewtwo will be a difficult challenge that requires Trainers to take advantage of every opportunity—so don’t forget to invite a friend to go along with you! Invites can only be sent to an Ultra Friend or Best Friend, so don’t forget to battle with friends, send Gifts, and trade Pokémon to build up your Friendship level.
