Drapion is a Tier 3 raid boss in Pokémon GO.
It’s an easy solo as a high-level Trainer, but almost every group of 1-3 Trainers should be able to take Drapion down under any conditions. It only has 1 type it’s weak to, so double check what moves your Pokémon have first.
It’s a Poison and Dark type, so it’s exclusively weak to Ground. It has a number of resistances, being Dark, Ghost, Poison, Psychic and Grass.
Drapion can be caught with the following CP values:
-
- 1331 – 1401 CP at Level 20, no weather boost
- 1665 – 1752 CP at Level 25 with Cloudy or Fog weather boost

Drapion’s moves have the potential to make it pretty scary. Ice Fang and Aqua Tail especially can really harm all the Ground types you bring to counter it, as well as Crunch and Aqua Tail being especially spammy when paired with Poison Sting or Infestation. Don’t be daunted, though, throw as many strong Ground types as you can at it!
Conclusion
Drapion has quite an interesting movepool for PvP, with the recently buffed Poison Sting letting it fire off Aqua Tails and Crunch with it’s new debuff chance at the fastest speed possible. It’s for sure a fun PvP option now, but it’s lacking in raid power. Raiding Drapion is great for gaining XL candy fast, however!
Stay safe, trainers!
