How strong is Mega Chandelure for Pokémon GO Raids?

Pokémon GO trainers couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate Halloween, with Mega Chandelure taking over Super Mega Raids on October 31, 2026! Chandelure has always been a great pick for both the Ghost and Fire metas, and so does the Mega Evolution of this spooky chandelier haunt its peers? Or is it just a flashy showpiece that isn’t worth the shine?

With Ominous Wind+ set at 145 base power, 100 energy, and 2.50s duration, the Charged Attack does look promising. However, the competition is fierce, so let’s get into the analysis of Mega Chandelure in Raids.

Mega Chandelure	Hex Ominous Wind+	23.30	515.3	21

Mega Banette	Shadow Claw Shadow Ball	18.67	311.0	16.3
Shadow Gengar	Lick Shadow Ball	18.52	225.4	15.4

WILL. YOU. LOOK. AT. THAT?

Mega Chandelure has dethroned both Mega Gengar and Dawn Wings Necrozma in Ghost-type DPS!!! It clocks an impressive 8.17% higher damage than Mega Gengar and 10.27% higher than Dawn Wings Necrozma. With Mega Gengar being weak to Psychic-type damage, the gap between the two is higher than Psychic Raid Bosses, making Mega Chandelure the go-to Ghost. But is Mega Chandelure also the go-to counter against Ghost and Psychic Raid Bosses, with Dark-type Pokémon also vying for the top spot in DPS?

There’s only one way to find out.

Mega Chandelure vs Dark types against Ghost- and Psychic-type Raid Bosses

When analysing a Ghost Pokémon’s performance in Raids against the two types it counters: Ghost and Psychic, comparisons are always made not only amongst fellow Ghost-type attackers, but also Dark types, as they also deal super-effective damage against the same Raid Bosses. In fact, the dark side has the advantage of being better defensively as they resist both Ghost and Psychic. With that being said, let’s put Mega Chandelure on the same trial.

Pokémon	Moves	DPS	TDO	Score
Mega Chandelure	Hex Ominous Wind+	23.30	515.3	21
Mega Houndoom	Snarl Dark Pulse+	22.09	486.2	19.9
Mega Gengar	Lick Shadow Ball	21.54	421.2	19.2
Dawn Wings Necrozma	Shadow Claw Moongeist Beam	21.13	560.4	19.4
Mega Z Absol	Snarl Brutal Swing	20.90	306.3	17.9
Shadow Darkrai	Snarl Foul Play	20.07	350.7	17.6

There you go, Mega Chandelure is THE BEST COUNTER to Ghost and Psychic Raid Bosses. To be fair, this doesn’t come as a surprise. Even though Dark types enjoy a better type advantage against these two types of Raid Bosses, Ghost-type counters have always held the bragging rights, with Mega Gengar and Dawn Wings Necrozma dishing out higher damage. Mega Chandelure surpasses both the top Ghosts, so it’s pretty obvious that it also takes the lead over the Dark types. Still, props to Mega Chandelure for clinching the Ghost crown!

Mega Chandelure in the Fire Meta

Pokémon	Moves	DPS	TDO	Score
Mega Delphox	Fire Spin Mystical Fire+	24.50	645.2	22.5
Mega Blaziken	Fire Spin Blast Burn	21.93	443.0	19.6
Mega Y Charizard	Fire Spin Blast Burn	21.33	522.4	19.4
Shadow Reshiram	Fire Fang Fusion Flare	21.33	463.4	19.2
Blacephalon	Incinerate Mind Blown	21.03	281.5	17.8
Mega Heatran	Fire Spin Magma Storm	20.99	675.8	19.6
Mega Chandelure	Fire Spin Overheat	19.79	437.7	17.9
Mega Emboar	Ember Blast Burn	18.82	544.0	17.4

Unfortunately for Mega Chandelure, its performance in the Fire meta isn’t hot enough, although it is impressive nonetheless. It is outclassed by both Mega Charizard Y and Mega Blaziken even without their +Charged Attacks. Mega Heatran will also outclass Mega Chandelure even without its +Charged Attack. Once these Megas gain those potent +Charged Attacks, the gap between each of them and Mega Chandelure would end up becoming even larger. As such, it’s best to keep Mega Chandelure in the ghostly allies instead of lighting it up!

Is Mega Chandelure Future-proof as a Ghost-type Attacker?

With an ATK of 335 and Ominous Wind+, Mega Chandelure has become the top Ghost type at the time of its debut, edging past Mega Gengar. Unfortunately for Mega Chandelure, Mega Gengar has a higher ATK of 349 and Shadow Ball+ in store, as per a recent datamine showcasing additional Charged Attacks for almost every Mega Evolution.

While those are still datamine info, the writing on the wall is clear… Mega Gengar will be back with a vengeance, and Shadow Ball+ could very well reinstate it as the top of the spine-chilling Ghost meta. Mega Chandelure is going to enjoy its moment in the sun (and deservedly so), but it needs to keep an eye on the shadows as a sinister Mega Evolution lurks…

Until then, take up Mega Chandelure as your Halloween treat from Pokémon GO. It will remain a solid Ghost attacker for sure!
