Mega Pokémon that boost Inkay

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Inkay if they are Mega/Primal evolved. We highly recommend Mega Evolving a Pokémon during this event to get as much candy as possible!

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it Worth Evolving Inkay?

PVE

⚔️ Raids

Malamar isn’t strong enough to be a top Dark- or Psychic-type attacker—better to leave that to others.

🛡️ Gyms

Malamar is a C-tier defenderdecent but not amazing.

PVP

Preferred Moveset

Psywave, Foul Play & Superpower

🧸 Little League

If Malamar is ever allowed into Little League, it will perform very strongly, but that seems like a long shot.

🔵 Great League

Malamar is a very good generalist pick for the open Great League. With the ability to hit almost every opponent for at least neutral damage, it acts as a very good safe swap in the current meta. Although not particularly strong, its strength lies in its ability to gain either shield advantage or switch advantage thanks to its fast and effective moveset.

🟡 Ultra League

Malamar operates very similarly in Ultra League as it does in Great League, excelling as a generalist that can put a dent in any opponent, even during losing matchupsDefinitely worth the investment in the current meta.

🟣 Master League

Malamar’s strengths cap out at Ultra League, and it can’t compete in the highest CP formats.
