Can we expect a better event than last year?
Absolutely! John Hanke, Niantic’s CEO shared the following statement in the official Press Release:
“After getting off to a bumpy start in Chicago last year, we hosted a number of record-setting events in Japan, Korea, and cities across Europe with attendance that ranged from tens of thousands to more than two million. We are excited to to be returning to Chicago for our US event. It will take place in Lincoln Park and will feature in-game activities in the park and throughout the city as well as connected gameplay events around the world.”

Yes. NA gets GO Fest, EU and Japan get Safari Zones.
Will there be any exclusive Pokémon released at GO Fest?
In 2017, Lugia was the first released Pokémon GO Legendary and it was released during (well, after) the GO Fest 2017 event. We are not expecting any special Pokémon this time around.
