What is Hyper Training in Pokémon GO? Research icon

Hyper Training is a feature in Pokémon GO that lets Trainers maximize a Pokémon’s IV stats—HP, Attack, and Defense—using a Gold Bottle Cap. Available starting with the Ancients Recovered event, this training boosts a Pokémon to near or full perfection. You can kick off Hyper Training with a Gold Bottle Cap, which you can get for the first time in Pokémon GO with the deluxe GO Pass for Ancients Recovered.

Gold Bottle Caps

The Gold Bottle Cap is an exciting one-time use item that you can earn by completing GO Pass Deluxe: Ancients Recovered!

  • You can use it to start Hyper Training with one of your Pokémon. Your chosen Pokémon needs to be a Good Buddy or higher!
  • When selecting a trainee, you will be able to choose which stats you would like to train.
  • Gold Bottle Caps are extremely rare and obtaining one is a special occasion, so select your trainee wisely.
  • Gold Bottle Caps earned from the GO Pass Deluxe: Ancients Recovered expire, so be sure to use it before then. This Gold Bottle Cap will expire on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time, regardless of when you claimed it.

How to do Hyper Training in Pokémon GO

Once you’ve given your chosen trainee a Gold Bottle Cap, it’s time to start Hyper Training! With Hyper Training, you can increase a Pokémon IVs in Pokémon GO. To train, you will complete various tasks themed to the stats you plan to raise.

Stat Method
Attack Battle alongside your trainee while they’re your buddy.
Defense Strengthen your bond with your Buddy Pokémon trainee by playing together, exploring, and catching Pokémon.
HP Explore alongside your trainee as a buddy. This can include spinning PokéStops, earning Buddy Candy, or other adventures.

Once you use your Gold Bottle Cap, you’ll have 365 days to complete your Hyper Training Tasks. It’s a long and challenging course, but once you complete it your trainee will be stronger than ever.

Hyper Training Rules and Mechanics in Pokémon GO

  • Shadow Pokémon are not eligible for Hyper Training
  • Lucky, traded, and Mythical Pokémon are eligible for Hyper Training
  • You can take any Pokémon up to a hundo, however you’ll have more Training Tasks to complete. For example, you can Hyper Train a Pokémon from 0 to 15 IV, but it will take more Training Tasks than going from 10 IV to 15 IV.
  • There is a visual representation if a Pokémon was Hyper Trained when you appraise it
  • Gold Bottle Caps allow for changing 3 stats, and Silver Bottle Caps can influence only 1 stat
