GO Wild Area 2025 Global Spawns Analysis Part I: Lurking Dark Hour

Hey Trainers! The Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global event is hitting on November 15 and 16, 2025, and it’s packed with cool stuff. You’ll get a chance to catch new Mighty Pokémon with boosted stats, plus shiny debuts like Hatenna and Impidimp, not to forget the special themed hours focusing on Dark and Fairy types. Don’t forget to use GO Safari Balls on those tough Mighty Pokémon—they’re strong, rare, and worth the effort! Get ready for some fun and powerful additions to your raid teams and collection.

Lurking Dark Hour

During the event, wild Pokémon spawns alternate between a “Lurking Dark Hour” and a “Fanciful Fairy Hour,” each lasting specific hours each day. The Dark Hour features (mostly) Dark type Pokémon such as Houndour, Gastly, Deino etc. The Fairy Hour showcases a variety of Fairy Pokémon including Clefairy, Alolan Vulpix, and Hatenna among others. The Wily Pokémon Impidimp, true to its apparent nature, is available for both hours.

Lurking Dark Hour

During Lurking Dark Hour, Trainers can expect boosts to the following wild Pokémon:

Gastly →Gengar→Mega Gengar

ATK 349
DEF 199
HP 155

Let’s start with one of the few non-Dark types! When it comes to PvE in Pokémon GO, Gengar and Mega Gengar are great fun to use as Ghost type attackers, especially if you like being the glass cannon of the raid scene. Mega Gengar in Pokémon GO is a formidable PvE attacker, excelling in raids and special events due to its massive Attack stat of 349 and a max CP of 4902. Its best moveset includes the fast move Lick and the charge move Shadow Ball, delivering high DPS. Not only that, Mega Gengar can double up as a Poison type attacker as well, just behind the famed Eternatus.

Sneasel →Weavile

Max CP 3397
ATK 243
DEF 171
HP 172

Speaking of glass cannons, Shadow Weavile is an excellent Dark raid attacker and an even stronger Ice raid attacker in Pokémon GO, making it a valuable addition to any raid team. Shadow Weavile possesses high offensive stats and access to powerful moves such as Snarl and Foul Play for Dark, and Ice Shard and Triple Axel for Ice.  The event gives a great chance to grind for those Sneasel XL candies you need to make your own Shadow Weavile.

Deino →Hydreigon

Max CP 4098
ATK 256
DEF 188
HP 211

Fans of the main series games will remember the 64 levels of pain to add the Brutal Pokémon Hydreigon to your party. Fortunately, its much more accessible in Pokémon GO and thankfully so. Shadow Hydreigon with Brutal Swing is an absolute monster in  raids as a Dark raid attacker. Regular Hydreigon is not far behind and is definitely a viable yet budget friendly Dark Pokémon. You cannot go wrong with Hydreigon!

Dreepy →Dragapult

Max CP 3993
ATK 266
DEF 170
HP 204

Dragapult, the Pseudo Legendary of Generation 8, can excel in Pokémon GO raids but suffers from low TDO due to its fragility. Excluding Megas and Shadows, it ranks among the top non-legendary Dragon-type attackers. With a single Fast TM and both Charged Attacks unlocked, Dragapult can seamlessly serve as either a Dragon or Ghost powerhouse, offering excellent flexibility in raid battles. The best part? Dragapult’s signature move, Dragon Darts, might come during its inevitable Community Day, which could seriously boost its raid game.

Mighty Pokemon Tyranitar

Max CP 6045
ATK 309
DEF 276
HP 225

Mega Tyranitar unleashes the true potential of Tyranitar’s power, trading raw Rock aggression for unmatched Dark dominance. While it can serve as a durable Rock attacker with Smack Down, others like Mega Diancie and Rampardos surpass it in damage. In contrast, its Dark role requires no Elite TMs, its STAB Bite and Brutal Swing combination, and immense bulk make it an exceptional Raid counter. Sustaining Mega Boosts for long periods Mega Tyranitar stands out as one of the most valuable Mega Evolutions to own.

Megas – New and Old

With the spawns of Houndour, Scraggy and Inkay, this is a great opportunity to setup some of your Mega Pokémon like Mega Houndoom, and to prepare for the newest Mega Pokémon that debuted in Legends: Z-A – Mega Scrafty and Mega Malamar. These Megas, along with their unique typings, provide a much helpful boosts to your raid lobbies and XL candy grinds.

Pitch Black Shadow

Max CP 4227
ATK 285
DEF 198
HP 172

Shadow Darkrai will be in Shadow Raids on Sunday, 16th November. While its a pretty decent Dark raid attacker, it sort of lags behind other Pokémon like the above mentioned Mega Tyranitar and Shadow Hydreigon, not to mention the heavy investment it requires. But!!!!! with its signature move Dark Void still not out, you never know when the tables might turn. If you get a good IV one from raids, hold onto it.

Conclusion

As the Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global event approaches, there’s no better time to gear up and dive into the action. Whether you’re chasing shiny debuts, powering up raid-ready glass cannons like Gengar and Weavile, or preparing Megas such as Tyranitar and Houndoom for enhanced spawns and candy bonuses, the event promises something for everyone. Don’t overlook those Mighty Pokémon either—each brings distinct power and potential to your team line-up. November 15–16 marks an unmissable weekend for battlers, collectors, and shiny hunters alike. Grab your Poké Balls, plan your Mega evolutions, and get ready to make the Wild Area your next great Pokémon GO adventure!

Stay tuned for Part II and an in-depth analysis of the Fairy types!
