PvE Analysis for Kyurem Fusion Raid Day

Welcome Trainers! We are now finally upon 2026’s first PvE meta event. Kyurem Fusion Raid Day, starting on January 10, is a great chance to encounter the very PvE relevant Tao Trio of Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem with their respective signature moves and add them to your raid roster, not to mention the boosted shiny rates! So how do these Unova Legendaries stack up? Let’s find out.

The Vast White Pokémon: Reshiram

  • Fusion Flare* Fire type icon

Reshiram’s identity in raids is almost entirely tied to its Fire performance. As a Dragon Fire legendary with a max CP of 4565 and a very high Attack stat, it has the raw stats needed to compete with the strongest Fire attackers. Currently, Reshiram sits at number 6 position among Best Fire Attackers in the game.

The key is its access to Fusion Flare, its signature Charged move. Fusion Flare is both powerful and energy‑efficient, outperforming older picks like Overheat in sustained DPS. Reshiram can technically run Dragon Breath with Draco Meteor as a Dragon attacker, but this configuration is usually considered secondary because there are dedicated Dragon specialists that outclass it, while Reshiram itself is near the very top of the Fire charts and sees constant use into Steel, Grass, Bug, and Ice raid bosses.

The Deep Black Pokémon: Zekrom

Zekrom fills an “evergreen legendary” niche on the Electric side. It shares similar stats to Reshiram, with a max CP of 4565, but trades Fire typing for Electric and hence, leans heavily into Electric damage in PvE. Currently, Zekrom sits at number 7 among Best Electric Attackers in the game.

Zekrom’s signature move: Fusion Bolt is its premier Charged move for PvE, offering one of the strongest combinations of base power and energy cost in the Electric category. Where Zekrom gets more interesting is its flexibility with its move-set, something which cannot be said about Reshiram. Using our DPS Comparer Tool:

As you can see, for Fast moves, Dragon Breath can be favored over Charge Beam in high‑level raid set-ups because, despite being a Dragon move, it yields better total DPS thanks to its damage profile, while Fusion Bolt supplies the Electric STAB on the charged side. Even running the non legacy Wild Charge as its Charged move, Zekrom provides comparable DPS to Fusion Bolt. This makes Zekrom a go‑to answer for high‑profile Water and Flying raid bosses such as Kyogre, Lugia, Yveltal, and many other legendaries that share those weaknesses. Its Dragon typing often helps it survive those matchups a bit better than pure Electric glass cannons.

The Boundary Pokémon: Kyurem

*Legacy Move

Base Kyurem, despite sharing the same Tao trio lineage, sits in a very different tier of PvE relevance. Despite access to its signature move Glaciate, Kyurem’s actual PvE performance just doesn’t keep up with its siblings or with the wider cast of Ice and Dragon attackers. As a result, most evaluations now treat base Kyurem as a Pokédex or collection piece rather than a serious raid staple. However, Kyurem can be fused with Reshiram or Zekrom to become White Kyurem or Black Kyurem respectively, both of which are very powerful meta staples in the game.

*Legacy Move

White Kyurem has a very solid stat foundation with a max CP of 5206 and a massive Attack stat of 310. Still DragonIce, it typically uses Ice Fang as Fast move and leverages access to its signature Charged move in Ice Burn, yielding extremely high Ice type DPS that surpasses all existing Ice staples. Here’s a look at Best Ice Attackers in the game:

It’s clear that White Kyurem stands as the strongest Ice attacker in the game right now—and all signs suggest it’s likely to hold that crown well into the future.

Remember: You cannot catch fused forms of Kyurem from raids. White Kyurem can only be obtained by fusing Reshiram with Kyurem. The IVs of White Kyurem will be the same as the IVs of Kyurem used for fusion. After fusing Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows the Charged Attack Glaciate, Glaciate will turn into the Charged Attack Ice Burn.

*Legacy Move

Black Kyurem, is a high‑end raid weapon, retaining its DragonIce typing but receiving a much more offensive‑leaning kit. Black Kyurem can access Dragon Tail as a Fast move and Freeze Shock as a signature Ice type charged move.

With Freeze Shock standing out for its extremely high damage per use, when paired with a strong Fast move like Dragon Tail and Black Kyurem’s already excellent stats, its overall raid performance is now in “top-gun” territory among Dragon and Ice attackers. This lets Black Kyurem act as both a top Dragon attacker and an elite answer to DragonFlying bosses that are double weak to Ice, effectively compressing roles that previously required separate Dragon and Ice teams in some raid lineups, something which White Kyurem cannot boast of.

Remember: You cannot catch fused forms of Kyurem from raids. Black Kyurem can only be obtained by fusing Zekrom with Kyurem. The IVs of Black Kyurem will be the same as the IVs of Kyurem used for fusion. After fusing Zekrom with a Kyurem that knows the Charged Attack Glaciate, Glaciate will turn into the Charged Attack Freeze Shock.

Parting Words

Reshiram, Zekrom, and the three Kyurem forms sit in a very small club of “premium legendary” raid attackers in Pokémon GO, but they do not all pull the same weight in PvE. Reshiram is one of the best Fire type attackers in the game, Zekrom is a top‑tier Electric attacker, Black and White Kyurem are designed to be ultra‑high DPS Ice and Dragon and specialists.

That’s it Trainers! Let us know which one of the three is your favourite! And as always Stay Safe and Happy Raiding!
