Hello Trainers! The July 2026 Community Day is all about Sobble, the Water Lizard Pokémon from Galar. Evolving Drizzile during the event or within the extended window will grant you an Inteleon with Hydro Cannon. Alongside this, Inteleon gains access to Snipe Shot, expanding its offensive toolkit. With these upgrades, is Inteleon finally a top-tier Water attacker in PvE? Let’s take a closer look.

Inteleon is a pure Water type Pokémon. With a 262 attack stat, Inteleon is built for offense first and foremost, while its mere 142 defense makes it a true glass-cannon in every sense. It is weak to Electric and Grass attacks, while resisting 4 different types.
Shiny Sobble Family
Inteleon has generally been a fringe option in Pokémon GO raids, typically stuck with a standard Water moveset of Water Gun + Surf. While Surf is a decent Charged Attack, Inteleon’s overall raid performance has never really stood out, largely because its stats are not strong enough to compensate for an average moveset. As a result, it has remained overshadowed by a long list of stronger Water Type Attackers. Post Community Day, Inteleon gains access to Hydro Cannon, which gives it a much-needed improvement in PvE. This boosts Inteleon’s damage output noticeably and finally gives it some relevance among Water attackers. Using our DPS Comparer Tool:

Inteleon, with access to Hydro Cannon, really snipes the competition, leaving behind the likes Shadow Gyarados, and placing itself among the upper tiers of Water type meta. With that strong 262 attack, its DPS goes past Kyogre and Mega Gyarados, though its low defense does affect its TDO and overall score. Having said that, the difference in Inteleon’s performance with and without Hydro Cannon is vast. Let us also now take this opportunity to compare Inteleon with other Water starters across generations.

Among all Water starters in the game, Inteleon has the best performance in raids. Its DPS is 1 point higher than the next best, Quaquaval. Based on the above evidence, we can easily infer that if and when Shadow Inteleon is released in Pokémon GO, it is going to zoom past not only other Shadow Water starters, but also a lot of other top Water picks. The present is strong, but the future is even stronger. Trainers! Make sure to grind those XL candies.
Inteleon also has a Gigantamax form, Gigantamax Inteleon, which can use its exclusive G-Max Move, G-Max Hydrosnipe, a Water type G-Max attack. While, Sobble’s Community Day may not impact Inteleon’s performance in Max Battles, it provides an excellent chance to stock up both regular and XL candies which are required to power up your G-Max Inteleon and also to unlock and level up its Max Moves.
G-Max Inteleon is currently the top Water attacker in Max Battles. The table below shows a simulation of G-Max Cinderace Max Battle:
G-Max Inteleon is the best counter for G-Max Cinderace Max Battle. The story remains similar for all other Max Battles where Water type counters are required. So Trainers, don’t miss out on the chance to build a G-Max Inteleon, it will forever be useful in Max Battles.
While the choice of Charged Attack doesn’t impact your Charged Attack on Gigantamax Inteleon, as it is set as G-Max Hydrosnipe, this community day would be a great time to evolve any Dynamax Sobble into Dynamax Inteleon as it will help boost their performance too!
Sobble Community Day gives Inteleon exactly what it was missing in Pokémon GO PvE: a genuinely threatening Charged Attack. Hydro Cannon pushes it from an afterthought into one of the better Water raid attackers, and while it still doesn’t have the bulk to challenge the absolute best on overall value, its damage output is now very real. It is also now the strongest Water type starter for raids, which is a notable achievement on its own. If you have been waiting for a reason to build this Galar starter, this Community Day is that reason.
Let us know Trainers! Which Water Starter is your most and least favorite? Which other Water type Pokémon would you like to feature in a Community Day?
As always, stay safe! and have a great community day!
