In potentially exciting news, the remaining unreleased Mega Pokémon, including Mega Mewtwo X and Y, have received an update in the game master file!
💡 Disclaimer: You know the drill by now. Please read through all of this with a grain of salt – we often post data mining reports that take months to release, and we don’t want our readers disappointed. While the sprites have existed in the Pokémon GO assets since November 2023, they’ve now been added to the production environment. What is the production environment and who is it so important? The production environment is often referred to as ‘going live’, and is a term used in software development. It is the setting where software applications and systems are deployed for actual use.
In this case, it means now at any time these Mega Pokémon could go live in Pokémon GO, and finally be a part of the game!
Remember, while these Pokémon might be ready to go, it doesn’t mean they are going to be released anytime soon. The sprites have existed in game for well over a year with no mention of them, but it does mean we are a step closer to them debuting eventually!

Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y are of course the most exciting remaining unreleased Mega Pokémon. These are going to have a huge impact on the raid meta. Mega Mewtwo X has a maximum CP of a whopping 7339 CP, with 412 attack, 222 defense, and 235 HP. Mega Mewtwo Y has an even higher max CP of 7690 CP, with 426 attack, 229 defense, and 235 HP.
These are going to be immensely difficult battles when they are finally released in Pokémon GO, and we suspect they’ll be saved for a major event, like a Pokémon GO Fest.

Of the remaining Mega Pokémon, I think arguably the ones people are least excited about are probably Mega Sharpedo and Mega Camerupt. Personally I think they have incredible designs, they are just going to be outclassed by other Mega Pokémon we already have. These two may make their debut in a dedicated raid day event like the likes of Mega Mawile has previously, and they’ll still be useful additions to your Pokémon collection.

Other than the Mewtwo, Mega Metagross is the other Mega Pokémon we have all been desperately waiting for! Reaching 5552 CP, with 300 attack, 289 defense and 190 HP, Mega Metagross is a beast. Metagross is already an incredible option for raids, but Mega Metagross will be a game changer. This Pokémon will almost certainly get a big dedicated event for their debut, potentially even something like Pokémon GO Fest too.
Mega Audino

Mega Audino is probably the most forgotten about Mega Pokémon, and sadly for good reason. Only reaching 2853 CP, it’s small compared to a lot of other Pokémon. As a dual Normal and Fairy type, normal type Pokémon always struggle to really make an impact in Pokémon GO. They don’t do any super effective damage, and in GO type effectiveness is so important. The fairy typing may mean it might be worth chucking in your team if you desperately need to boost fairy types and have literally no other options that can mega evolve for free, but other than that, it isn’t going to be meta changing.
Mega Audino will likely debut like Mega Mawile, in a dedicated raid day that most won’t raid too hard.
